Parmo to get Protected Status?

Recommended Posts

Champagne, Brussels Sprouts, Stilton & Cheddar cheeses, Melton Mowbray Pork Pies...all these foods enjoy Protected Designation of Origin status, meaning their names cannot be used if they are produced elsewhere.

Now a campaign is underway to give one of the North East's favourite dishes the same status.

So presumably it'll just have to be called "Deep fried chicken with melted cheese topping" if made anywhere else?  :D
