Details

Teams – Birmingham v Middlesbrough

Location – St Andrew’s

Competition – The Championship

Date – The day after the day after tomorrow (Tue 6th March 2018)

Kick off – 19:45

Introduction

After a bitterly cold few days, Boro will attempt to make the perilous trip across country with gritted teeth (and hopefully roads) for the crucial game against Birmingham.

The Last Games

Boro:

Boro 3 – 0 Leeds

The Beast from the East (of Spain), Adama Traore wreaked havoc on the Leeds team, cutting through their defence like p**s through snow. Along with the rest of the Boro frontline, he smashed through Leeds’ defence time and time again. Patrick Bamford scored a flurry of goals leaving the opposition looking a little more than windswept.

Birmingham:

Nottingham Forest 2 - 1 Birmingham

Aitor Karanka enjoyed a victory in one of the few championship games not to be postponed this weekend. Birmingham scored a late consolation goal through Michael Morrison.

Availability/Injury News

Boro:

- Rudy Gestede will be out for the season.

- Grant Leadbitter was taken off in the first half of the Leeds game after struggling with his hamstring.

Birmingham:

- Isaac Vassell suffered a serious injury in October 2017 and remains sidelined.

Form (League only - most recent last)

Boro: LWLWDW

Birmingham: WLLLLL

The View From The Other Side

Presumably a match day thread will appear on here when they’ve finished jabbering on about the Nottingham game:

The Un(ger)-Official Match Preview

With an extra day to rest, recuperate and thaw out, Boro will storm up the league table with another whirlwind performance. 4 - 0 to Boro with Bamford scoring 2, Traore 1 and Ayala 1.

My predicted team:

Randolph

Shotton Ayala Gibson Friend

Howson Clayton Besic

Traore Bamford Downing

Talking Points

- How many goals will Paddy score this time?

- Who would win in a race out of Adama and a Bugatti Veyron?

- Where will you be the day after the day after tomorrow?

Excellent opening post once again. Fair play Boro-unger. I think you have it right with your predicted starting 11. Another goal to keep Bamford firing on all cylinders would be good

Another great OP :)

Hoping for a better day than my last visit to St. Andrews... we lost 3-0 and Nikola Zigic scored a hat-trick. When the bloody hell does that ever happen!?

I'm going for a 3-0. Paddy with 2 and Ayala with the other. Same team as against Leeds but with Clayton in for Leadbitter.

Adama vs. the Bugatti? He's worth about 20 Bugatti veyrons so who cares ;)

Where will I be the day after tomorrow? Rehearsal and pub :D

Alan Nixon says Monk and Clotet in by Monday, James Beattie aswell. Apparently Monk's birthday on Tuesday aswell?

Doubt he'll take charge though. Likely watch from the stands.

Cotteril sacked.

Steve Cotterill has been sacked as manager of Birmingham City after just five months in charge, Birmingham Live understands.

The 53-year-old becomes the fourth man to vacate the managerial chair at St Andrew's in a turbulent 14 month period.

Was hoping they wouldn't sack Cotterill till after our game tbh. New manager coming in may give them a lift and allow them to put in a good performance against us. Monk will want to beat us as well, given how it all ended. Saying that he should have wanted to beat Leeds with us earlier in the season but couldn't inspire us to do that so maybe its not a problem!

the new manager thing is a bit of a myth if you look at the stats for the new managers appointed this season. i think the managers staying to long ruining playerswho then play great after he's gone. donsnt really apply much now. he was only there 5 months. i think the likelihood of brum being all at seas is more likely than a super performance from them.

To be fair and following both teams last results surely this has to be a "must win" game for both teams?

If Aitor can do it so can Tony!

It was interesting to watch Lee Tomlin and Cotterill deep in conversation on the tv highlights.

Massively important that we do not slip up as we will not be able to blame the snow!

Good OP BU
