Boro v Brentford (A) 1-1 (Traore)

Recommended Posts

Ayala a major doubt hasn't trained all week

Not ideal... was there an update on Besic? As he was touch and go for the last game.

Besic and Bamford have both trained and are fine

That's a relief! Fry is a safe pair of hands, straight swap for Ayala in my opinion.

Shame we will miss Ayala's attacking threat though, Brentford concede from a lot of set pieces.

This is probably a better game for Ayala to miss as Brentford don't play with a big physical striker that both Gibson and Fry struggle with.

His impact in the other box when attacking set pieces and throw ins will be the biggest loss.

i'd move shotton to cb and play cranie. need experience on the pitch this time of season. one mistake could cost the game. plus shotton is likely still the type of cb to bully their little guys. they'll deffo get more joy out of fry. cranie right back is a safer bet imo. and knows pulis i bet thats what happens.

Why not put Cranie at CB? He is used to play there ;)

Well, Shotton is scooled to cover for Adama, as some of us read in an interview shared here today... So I think for sure Shotton stays on the RB.. Be it Fry og be it Cranie to replace Ayala... IF he is not playable.... We'll see

Literally anyone could play RB for Adama if the role is to "don't go past him" it's not rocket science

I mean going by what Shotton said the other day, it's not as simple as that and it's not just "don't go past him".

Yeah, it's also the covering for him, coaching him on the far side of the pitch, knowing his game well enough to know when to push on. It is a role in itself.

So he also has to tell Traore when to come back and cover, you think that's a job that specifically requires Shotton out there to do? Come off it man, you could stick Cranie in at RB and I'd put money on him doing an equally good job because it's not that ***ing difficult.

amazing isnt it. soooo simple, stick an experienced pro behind him to keep him right, manager playing his every week. now adama is full of confidence and our best player.

monk made to look more utterly inept every week. total fraud.

    • Moses..........with our scouts, we would probably end up with the original version........mind you, if he could split a defence like that day by the Red Sea, he would be worth having
    • Boro this day 18th November 1972 My 2nd ever away Boro game when my dad took me & his ICI work colleague to the Sheffield Wednesday game, my previous away game was Boro's last away game on the 11th which seen us win 1-0, courtecy of a John Hickton goal I remember we went in a pub before the game, I was 12 so drinking soft drinks At the game we sat in the seats that were put in for the 66 world cup took   John Hickton scored a penalty to put the mighty Boro in front, this was his 3rd goal v Sheff Weds in 5 games against them since we signed him from Sheff Weds, his 1st goal at Hillsborough though  The afternoon didn't turn out to good a day for big John, or the Boro fans         Jim Platt saved a 1st half penalty from Tommy Craig, the referee deemed Jim had moved to soon & the spot kick was retaken, again jim Platt was to be successful a 2nd time & dived the right way to save the 2nd spot kick                                                                                Sheff Wed equalised on half time & the 2nd half was one way traffic, eventually we couldnt cope & Tommy Craig, who missed the 1st half penalty, scored a scorcher, I can still see him running away towards their kop with his arms aloft We had led, Jim Platt had saved 2 penalties & we lost 2-1, 2 away games for me, one win & a loss, welcome the the Boro son   Stan Andersons team Jim Platt Peter Creamer - 5th appearence out of 6 that season  Frank Spraggon Nobby Stiles Stuey Boam Willie Maddren Bill Gates Eric McMordie David Mills John Hickton - 4th goal of the season David Armstrong Sub Gordon Jones - Final appearence as sub,  he started a further 8 games
    • So we shouldn't get too excited about this England team despite recent youth injection, attacking style of play, Russia World cup Semi-Finals and a comfortable Euro 2020 qualification because of past failings ?
    • Or Derby would get 1st shout with the connection
    • I can't see anything but a fairly comfortable Denmark win.
