Anyone who thinks Pulis will drop Downing or Leadbitter will be sorely disappointed.

Best we can hope for is that he doesn't play Leadbitter and Clayton at the same time...

If we play Leadbitter and Clayton in the same defensive mould against Burton then something is seriously wrong.

One of Downings biggest fans but those were 2 very poor efforts on Friday. I expect to see him play on Monday though.

Biggest problem for me though was seeing Leadbitter and Clayton in the same midfield. If he plays them again together until the end of the season I will be seriously miffed. Think it will be a same again approach with just Howson in for one of Clatyon/Leads.

Nothing other than a convincing win will be acceptable

Away end is sold out. I imagine you can probably buy home tickets on the door.

Not that thick anymore i spent 4 years in derby while at uni and I now live near Barnard Castle for work so my accent has is no where near as thick as it use to be. Although it doesn't matter I found out this morning they dont sell tickets on the door for championship matches to stop other teams fans getting in on the day (asked one of my mates whos a notts county fan).

Well game day and it seems as if there is little interest in such an important game.

Would like to see Boro's midfield play with more attacking movement today and not see Boro defenders making all the forward moves also would like to see 2 up front and that is anyone one but Britass.

Personally I would drop him into the reserves till the end of the season the guy is just a waste of space.

So thats 3 at the back with 2 wingbacks and 3 in midfield with the 2 up front.

Thats never gonna happen is it far to many attacking tactics involved silly me for even thinking that way.  ;)

In the context of the remaining fixtures is it that important though? It’s only potentially important in terms of keeping it in our own hands - which will likely be the case for each of the remaining games.

In a few weeks we’ve got shef utd, Bristol, Derby, Millwall, I’d imagine that anyone of those are going to be more important. Unless we lose both this and forest 8-0, then maybe some of those won’t be important or maybe they’ll be more important. I’m not sure how you quantify this tbh. :)

It’s all relative anyway.........

I think that could be because of the wolves game tbh been so terrible against 9 men kind of puts a downer on promotion hopes. Having said that i think we will win today we do well against teams in the bottom half particularly if we score first, I think Pulis will play Leadbitter, Besic and Howson to go for it against this sort of team.

So you want Britt dropped to the reserves but 2 upfront? Who's gonna partner Bamford then Dael Fry?

Britt is our only other fit striker my man, if you want 2 up top you'll have to deal with Britt for now.

    • Hey Erimus, fancy missing out Mel Nurse. A Boro Captain too. A bit before your time 😳
    • There will need to be some serious psychological rather than tactical decisions made by NW for the Swans game. Was it fatigue, was it the weather, was it those misses that could have seen us three nil up by thirty minutes and cruising at Huddersfield? I am fully in Warnock's camp but there is a question mark over his use of Subs at times. He usually calls it right but there are now a couple of occasions when he has used them poorly and if fatigue is a contributory reason then he has to start using more than three and more importantly he has to start changing and influencing games sooner with them. Some tough calls to be made and it is imperative that he does it without favour. There needs to be a clear message of shape up or lose your place. Easier said than done of course with such a small and inexperienced squad but below par mediocrity must have consequences regardless of status or reputation. For clarity that isn't aimed just at Britt who is the obvious target after Saturday, there were a few others who struggled for whatever reason.
    • Tough game. Need to win with the way the top-6 is shaping up. Really tough to call after the display at Huddersfield and conceding 3 goals all from open play. I think it'll be a dire 1-1 with Swansea the happier team.
    • I think by now we all know that we thought we had bought Britt, the mythical legend who scored goals for fun at this level. The realty is that we bought a "goalscorer" that nobody else was willing to match the asking price for and over time we have found out why. What compounds the issue is that having identified his strengths and weaknesses a succession of Managers have managed to set up Boro teams to play to those weaknesses. When I have conversations with fans of other clubs I'm often surprised when I raise a topic on a Player of theirs that I rate to find some negativity from them. Its the same with us, we have players that other fans rate but they don't watch them as intimately, week in, week out over several seasons as we do. Usually we have an opinion of a competitors player based on a few headline performances, great saves or defending condensed into two minute snippets on a Saturday night or heaven forbid, the goals they scored against us. Jordan Hugill is a beast of a Striker who will get you goals at this level except when he came here instead of being a beast he was sat on his backside doing a one man impression of the Gap Bands "oops upside your head". Kris Boyd, Scott McDonald, Jordan Rhodes etc. etc. there is a very long historical list. It works equally in reverse of course, Liverpool paid over two million for Brad Jones, its just that it seems to work against us more than for us.
