Boro V Burton Albion (A) 1-1 (Assombalonga)

Recommended Posts

Same old same old, just a total kack of adventure, what does he see in Leadbitter, it is like having to play with ten men. I think Shotton needs to be benched, his positional play lately leaves a lot to be desired. We should have enough to win as I cannot see their defence stopping Bamford and Traore for ninety minutes.

What exactly do you mean by a lack of adventure?

This team is more than capable of winning this game. Remember Burton are fighting for their lives. I think going all out attack in the midfield would be too dangerous, we're not cohesive enough to do it so we need to take our time and forge opportunities when they leave gaps and exploit Traore's pace to the full, exactly what had got us into the play-off positions again to begin with.

He probably means that we're playing the worst team in the league who also happen to have a terrible record and we have 3 attacking players in the side.

Exactly CT but I can only count two attacking players.

We’re getting outplayed by the bottom team in the league ffs. Sell leadbitter and downing in the summer. If they’re supposed to be leaders then no surprise we don’t look like we are bothered.

Think it is time for Grant to do a lot of shouting and for Stewy to spray aimless passes

Ayala sends a long ball out of the stadium. Sums up our tactics. Burton by far the best team so far. We are atrocious.

Burton are completely dictating the pace of the game. They keep slowing it down and slowing it down and we're completely falling into it. There's not a lot of control from either side but the key element is that we are not playing the ball quickly enough when we get it.

Not much analysis of the game anywhere that I can find... whos controlling the game? Have we had any chances?

Edit - just read Wilsons post.

Clayton did nothing against Wolves to keep his place in todays team. No qualms with that change. Shotton has travelled so i dont think hes injured.

Neither did Leadbitter or for that matter Besic.

They both contributed more than Clayton did.

Ryan Mason on SSN saying we haven't been a threat at all. Disappointing.

    • It was the same with us at the end of his stint with us, players just didnt respond to him.  It didnt help matters when he said during the season that he was leaving, but if there is one manager who could get a club up its NW.  Bolasie was a great signing for you, wish we went in for him.  The premier league needs a team like boro.    All the best mate 👍

    • Are we away from home? If so, we have a chance. If we're at the Riverside, it's a 1-3 loss.
    • Good post, @BluebirdinExile. We do have a manager who knows how to grind out results, but the players don't seem to be following his instructions lately! This is the sort of game that makes me glad I don't bet on results, because I have no idea what'll actually happen. We're hopelessly inconsistent atm.
    • Hi all, Cardiff fan in peace always had a soft spot for Boro ever since seeing your support in Cardiff early doors in the FA cup in the 90's.     Anyway after reading some comments about it will be a walk in a park for Cardiff, I dont think it will be.  We are beginning to look tired, we are not used to the high press we are currently playing at the moment, if the scores are remaining level after 70 mins then I can see you sneaking something. You have a manager who knows how to grind out results in this division, so its not all doom and gloom for you.   Anyway i hope we win on Saturday, but after that I hope you at least make the playoffs.    All the best to you 👍
