Bamford on for Britt, Fabio for shotton and Harrison on for downing then weve got a chance of getting equaliser, stick and weve got no quality going forward.

Pretty much same as the first game minus a goal. Villa get a couple of chances out of relatively nothing (barring the Hourihane chance, what a tackle by Friend, kept us in the tie). We're in control of the ball but not the game.

45 minutes to go is probably a good time to make a change. Who do you bring on? Not sure. Most people were screaming for Shotton out for Fabio but he's had a good half barring a silly challenge on Adomah near the end. Bamford in for Britt wouldn't change a thing as it would just be the other lad not getting a touch of the ball. And you have to consider the players who aren't having an effect. Howson isn't getting on the ball so can't affect the game, Besic has received the ball and buggered it at almost every opportunity. Clayton is helping us with possession but could we sacrifice him for another attacker and pull one of the other lads a bit further back. Midfield is the main issue right now because we can't dominate Jedinak and Hourihane and we can't get ball through them into Britt.

Well we’re very much in this game still, which is good. I think we’ve played alright, but as usual we just lack any sort of penetration, we have no creative outlet other than Traore which they are nullifying.

Hardly rocket science has been the same all year.

Villas midfield of three has Jedinak just in front of the defence and Hourihane and Grealish surging forward and getting into the box.

Our midfield has Clayton, Besic and Howson all playing defensive midfield. Not one gets into the box. When we’re going forward looks like we’re playing with less men.

Downing is such a fraud of a player lately, he can't cross, pass or shoot and his first touch always seems to be to turn back around rather than go forwards. Actually all of our midfield seems to do that - take the ball and turn around to face the defence which kills any momentum and generally makes it easier to steal by the opposition also. We dont really have an answer to the left wing problem - Harrison obviously isnt trusted. I'd stick Paddy out there with instructions to get in the box at every opportunity.
