Summer Transfer Window 2018.

That sounds like a real attempt at character assassination, something you see all the time in that rag (normally not for a white footballer but still..). And besides, I would have thought it would be fairly normal practise if a player is uprooting his life for a year or 6 months that the club would pay for his accommodation and utilities? It would be different if it was permenant but I would like to think our club would do everything they could to make temporary signings feel at home while they're with us. What a nothing article.

Oh yeah, i wasnt interested in anything apart from the £40k that was being banded about. Apologies for giving that Paper traffic

Bamford to Forest makes no sense to me.

Bamford wants to play striker and Karanka thinks of him as an inside right forward.

I think we have also have to forget Bamford £14M vs Britt £15M.

We paid too much for Britt, that doesn’t mean Bamford is worth more.

Personally I wouldn’t mind selling Bamford if it meant brining in a quality pacey left winger. Opposition defences wouldn’t be able to stop a threat on both flanks.

So we're believing that Forest are gonna pay 14m for him plus about 10m in wages over 4 years?

A 24m outlay on one player, how does that fit in with FFP? (Not that I think hes on anywhere near 50k).

We should make them buy Barragan as well if they want Bamford.  If Aitor wants all of his old players back he can start with him :)

I found another (admittedly unverified) place that said he was on £15k in this division, Gestede & Fabio on £30k, Clayts on £25k, Gibbo on £20k. Gibbo getting paid less than the others sounds pretty difficult to believe given the new contract he signed but the rest sound about what I'd expect. Are you sure he didn't say FIFTEEN and not FIFTY? :D

£50k!? That transfer window was one to forget for so many reasons, if we offered an unproven, unfit Prem player £50k, that's utterly diabolical on top of everything else. I have a very hard time believing that but if it was going to happen in any window, it would have to be that one.

This was exactly my reaction...Sounds like we were desperate and they had us over a barrel.

EDIT - a quick google came back with this

So i guess it isn't that unbelivable?

I wonder if by television subscriptions they meant all of his dirty porn channels? ;)

I know you're joking here, but I have a feeling Barragan has already been told not to bother coming back. He wasn't on any of the training pictures from yesterday.

But in dealing with the same club, if we're selling them a striker who is better than the one we bought, we would surely expect them to pay more, would we not? Forest are also probably going to overspend this summer, they're going to have to to catch up with the rest of the teams challenging at the top.

There are a lot of things to consider when selling a player and for me, us buying Britt off them last season meant less to them than us selling Bamford to them does to us. They weren't challengers last season, this season they potentially are.

I also disagree that Karanka thinks he's an inside forward. He played there to begin with to fit into the team with Kike/Vossen and Tomlin and he ended up moving up front with Tomlin, Vossen and Adomah behind him when AK realised he was better placed up top. When he came back, Negredo was the main man up top and Bamford had no claim to that place in the team what with being unfit and unproven at this level.

As far as I can remember, Betis had a buy clause in the loan deal and from their point of view, he was a mainstay of their team last year so I've no doubt that's going on behind the scenes.

I was just about to post the same thing.

Even if we did agree to pay Bamford 50k in the prem I would expect the club to insert a hefty relegation wage reduction clause considering we were fighting relegation. I also seem to remember that all our players had such a clause in their contracts when we were relegated. Only very few players should be on 40k in the Championship and I don't think we have any of those sorts of players at our club. Gibson at a push because of his form in the Prem and the way he decided to try and get us up when he could very well have left.

Hopefully Braitwaithe will shine for DENMARK today, so that he will get some attention from potential buyers, which would free up some good money and make a Bamford move less possible.

My gawd, if we sell the most technical striker we have seen in years... Unbearable thought!

Woah woah. We're not selling Gestede. Take it easy.

Not sure I feel all this love for Paddy. He is a clever footballer for sure but other than a purple patch last season I don't see him firing us up next season.

If we sell it should only be because Pulis has someone better lined up but £14m is more than he is worth in my opinion
