Would he want to drop down a division whilst playing regular football? Statement of intent from us if it does happen! Was gonna say that. I'd be happy with Richie but 15m? Newcastle only paid 12m when he was 2 years younger. Where does Richie play? I always assumed he played from the right cutting in and that's where his goals come from. He's left footed and think he plays on either Wing but played on the right for Newcastle... I'd love this rumour to be true, if we get Flint and Ritchie for the price of Gibson it would be a great bit of business!
Will 2,958
He has to have an offer to be able to turn it down... You might want to let Southampton know, maybe they’ve accidentally agreed terms with Darron Gibson
Duvel 2,446
If Gibson is happy to play LB it isn't ideal but at least we keep him at the club, which i think is important. Clear leader of the group and understands about what the club is etc. I guess it's one less position we need to recruit for too. Again, we know that Pulis plays 4 CBs across the back. He put Woodgate at RB at Stoke, who was arguably one of the most gifted English CBs of his generation. Pulis has played with 4 CB's in the past and also with orthodox full backs. I don't think either is guaranteed.
Borodane 6,246
If we are willing to spend such a large amount on a winger I’d make contact wil Everton and Bolasie as he is apparently a***st the players Everton want rid of. He’s probably on huge wages though.
MikeyBoro 373
We're only one deadball specialist away from a team capable of promotion. Ritchie/Snodgrass in would ensure we were excellent from set pieces, as a Tony Pulis side usually is, however one thing we don't often see from Pulis sides if flair and real pace, which we have in Adama and Assombalonga (who I also believe to be excellent in the air), which will certainly offer an alternate way of scoring goals. So even if we come up against a side that doesn't allow Flint and Ayala to find space within the box, I feel our other obvious asset in Adama will be too much for most teams to cope with. Don't get me wrong, having a team capable of promotion doesn't necesarily mean promotion is guaranteed, and signing an alternative pacey winger to play second fiddle to Adama, and another top physical presence in centre midfield, Huddlestone and Jedinak spring to mind, should give us a much better chance at it. In my opinion, this team offers a perfect balance: Randolph Shotton Ayala Flint Fabio Jedinak Clayton Mcnair Adama Assombalonga Ritchie
wilsoncgp 9,229
I thought Ritchie was still playing a fair bit and quite well at Newcastle. 32 starts and 3 sub appearances in the Prem last season for them. I'd be surprised to see them let him go, almost the same contribution as he did at Muff in the Prem too. I'd love to see him here, got a lot to offer but he doesn't really fix the balance on the wings, Ritchie has played his best football on the right, as does Traore. If both were still in the team, one would likely be less effective than the other and it'd be the one on the left, essentially the same problem we already have. Even switching wings throughout the game, the opposition would know our right-hand side was our most effective.

mendieta420 988
We're never going to spend anything like 15m on a winger and keep Adama.. Is the Braithwaite deal still on?

Just watched a few goal vids etc from his Newcastle time, pretty much all but 1 goal comes from either cutting in from the right or a set piece/pen. While hes obviously a very good player I think we'd have a bit of the Downing scenario sticking him on the left. He doesn't have pace or flair to beat a man on the outside, he makes his living cutting inside playing quick 1/2's and he obviously has a decent long range shot. At 15m for someone who will have very little sell on fee I think I'd rather we buy a specialist for the position we want.
Brunners 7,952
He has to have an offer to be able to turn it down... guys shut it down the almighty humpty has spoken and as we know he is never, ever wrong.
MikeyBoro 373
Ritchie was undeniably quality for both Bournemouth and Newcastle in this division, only trouble is he's 28 now so he's pretty much at the peak of his career or has peaked. Might only have 2 years left in him at his best.
