Summer Transfer Window 2018.

Recommended Posts

Can see a lot of bed wetting coming later on if we don't get a full squad today, you can understand everton's point of view not accepting loan offers today as they want to push for a sale. They can always loan him out after today, so why settle for that now? So not the end of the line for this one for now.

We still have the loan window to bring in players so it's not the end of the world if we don't have a full squad by 5pm.

remember the loan window continues... if there's no wingers today it's not over..

Or we play our 3-5-2, which seemed more dynamic anyway ;)

Except we didn't actually play it.

We can still loan Bolasie but maybe they want to try and push for a permanent deal today.

And again:

Millwall have rejected a bid from Middlesbrough for both George Saville and Jed Wallace, according to Sky sources.

The initial bid for the pair was for £6m. Neither player is considered for sale, but it has not been ruled out that Boro may try again for one or either player before the 5pm deadline.

Even still, I think it’s a bit unacceptable that we have let our only creative player go and not only not replaced him but also not signed a left winger where we were already desperately weak. Especially having just received over £40m on transfer fees. Staggering.

Let’s hope there is a surprise in the bag.

The issue with the loan market is that it cuts off quite a lot of potential avenues. We won't be able to sign any top players from championship clubs as they likely won't be able to adequately replace them with a loan deal so why would they let them go?

It basically just limits us to premier league players who aren't good enough for their current sides and they have enough cover to be able to lose the player from the squad. I think we'll be extremely limited in our options in that particular market tbh.

If Freeman and Besic go through as we hope at 4 and 6 a piece we're on track for around a 10 million net spend since promotion so I guess we've done ok financially?

Not as confident in the loan market finding us two wingers from the PL that others are really hope we'd get in at least one senior winger in today that's all still looking like we're in better shape than when the window shut last year under Monk.

Sounds a bit like Bolasie.

Correct. Problem being we need two wingers and everton dont seem willing to negotiate a loan deal. Whether that changes after today is to be seen, but it's a risk either way
