Well .. Does anyone remember, when I half jokingly said... What if Adama, which everybody at that time hated, turned out to be a good player... And pardon me.. he freaking did!

No, because that didn’t happen.

idgaf what u think

And I don't want to go back and find it .. My life is too short for that... But the optimist I am .. I said that, when people were hating him for being a one trick pony, with no end product ..

Let's see with Gestede now, shall we ...

Well I can tell you that I never hated him, I always said that he was a potential superstar. So not everybody hated him ;)

You know when he said everyone he didn’t mean EVERYONE. It’s a saying . I’m sure someone in the arctic tundra hasn’t even heard of him so I’d doubt they hated him

Thanks rich, I was really flummoxed by that one for a while. I was just thinking to myself, how could he possibly have surveyed everyone’s opinion in the world? What about the people on the international space station, do they count? What about people in uncontacted tribes? It’s a logistical nightmare!

There were plenty of people who didn't think he was rubbish, anyone with half a brain could see he had immense potential.

One good half season and suddenly he's not rubbish   I've heard it all now

Anyone think we may not actually sell any of our main players? I thought the likes of Gibson and maybe assombalonga were certain to go, but it looks like we've put high prices on them and aren't budging.

It’s my mission to help those less fortunate..... a bit like St. John :).

Does anyone think Middlesbrough fans (In General, not individually) think the club is much better than it is. I think it's quite arrogant to suggest anyone is our rival at present, and more arrogant to suggest we will be promotion candidates. I've seen very little up to now to suggest we will be. We have signed two tall players and in the one preseason game thus far (I know it's only 1 but first impressions and all that) we played back to front quickly. A policy which pulis has proved he can make work when trying to avoid relegation but very rarely leads to great promotion pushes.

Someone previously said that at present gestede would be starting the season. The only way that isn't true is if we buy another big target man. I can barely see Britt getting a kick so get rid....pulis clearly doesn't fancy him. The downside is that it will free up the money for pulis to sign another beanpole

every teams fans think their team is better than it is, because it is to them i guess.

its not arrogant at all to hope we are in the mix for promotion and guess our rivals. after all we ended up 5th last season and were basically useless, had a complete change in philosophy half way through and that basically made several new signings from the summer redundant. pulis was still stuck with a load of players he didnt like and managed to still improve on monk with monks players. shows you what a joke monk was i guess.

How is it arrogant to suggest a team that finished 5th last season will be challenging for promotion?

I suppose the proof will be seen this season. I think I read that pulis averaged something like 1.7 points per game after he took over (this may be slightly wrong) with "monks players". It will be interesting to see how many points per game we average with "pulis players".

We keep getting told it was monks team. I'm thinking that at least half of the team will be different. So a bit of a wild guess on what the team will look like.

But as it stands it’s not arrogant at all to suggest we’ll be up there, we have a solid bunch of players most of whom will be here next season. In our last 3 seasons in this league we’ve finished in the playoffs as a minimum in every one of them.

    • Spence is slated continuously on here since the season began.  I've seen nothing good said about him in that time.  Johnson wallops more crosses in - but the only things he's dangerous to is anyone in Row Z or our own defence.  Djiksteel might be a decent shout - once we have 3 CBs up to speed.
    • If dijksteel and McNair play as well as they have in these two games in defeats I will maintain my opinion. My criticism of fry has absolutely nothing to do with him being home grown and everything to do with the fact that he has been downright bad for a while, although I still believe him to have tons of potential and he is still very young. As for the johnson stuff, I don't even know where to begin, so I won't.
    • I cannot understand why Johnson is preferred to Coulson with play like that going on.
    • Mate, Brooks did sod all down the right and it was very little to do with Johnson. He wasn't even more disciplined, he got forward and had plenty more opportunities to cross than Spence did. And it either didn't beat the first man or it was blazed beyond the players or over the bar on one or two occasions too. There was a free kick we took quickly whilst a Bournemouth player complained about the foul, Johnson was entirely free, had a good 10-15 yards to take his time and pick the players out. He put it behind the goal, he didn't even get it into the box. It was abysmal. When it comes to Spence, there's clearly work to do. But to think Johnson is providing any danger to opposition teams right now is baffling to me. He's made one decent cross so far this season, against Shrewsbury for Fletcher.
