Summer Transfer Window 2018.

Recommended Posts

If it meant having Bryan at LB and traore staying I'd even meet him halfway and let him keep shotton!

Seen wolves are after that city left back, wonder if we could tempt them with a decent offer for Douglas if we can't get Bryan. If pulis wants a set piece taker you won't find much better at this level.

Although Zinchenko played at left back last season he’s actually an attacking midfielder by trade

I have some trouble believing that one. I just can't see Southampton going after Gibson when they are signing Vestergaard for 18 million. That's a man with more than 200 Bundesliga appearances, in the Bundesliga team of the year last season and a full Danish international. He is going to play. Are they really looking to change their whole central defense in one window? Looking at their squad they do seem weak there and I don't think Wesley Hoedt was the player they were hoping for when they paid big bucks last summer.

I'd take Phillips and Besic in a heartbeat but 15 million for Vokes is a lot of money.

Vokes is just Gestede with a few more Premier League goals.

That would kind of indicate that he is better than Gestede. But kind of agree that we don't need two of those kinds if that's what you are emplying.

I must have missed something, but where did this notion of Gibbo playing at left back come from?

I think it's because he's not been sold yet and we bought Flint, really can't see it myself...

Assumptions from he's left footed, has done it before and Pulis' penchant for playing CBs at FB I think

That’s all a bit tin foil hat, there is another month to go in the transfer window. Im sure that he will be sold.

If not then it’s not bad to have 3 decent CB’s covering 2 places. We did that 2 seasons ago with Ayala, Chambers and Gibson, no one freaked out then, he’ll we even had Bernardo as a 4th backup.

If we pay 15m for Vokes we’ve been well and truly pantsed.

A WBA fan told me before Phillips and Pulis had a big falling out.

But like it or not, Teamtalk news usually originates from Bailley who usually gets Boro stuff right.

That might be the idea...

Gestede as back-up for Vokes.

No place for Britt or Bamford.

It's the Pulis way.

We could become a cult and have a mass suicide, it might be a blessed relief if all these rumours turn out to be true.

Come on guys it's not fair to judge the squad before the season starts, at least wait until 10 games in before forming suicide pacts...

    • You know I stopped saying things like that when I left Marton Road infants school back in the early 60s.  😄😄
    • I agree with you. I think Hugill did go to ground a lot but probably because when he played, the closest person near him when ball was played to him were the fans in the stands. Probs thought best i can do is win a free kick. QPR and Preston showed when you use him properly, i.e in a front 2 he is actually very decent at this level. A lot better than he showed here imo.
    • Has anyone been watching these? They have been quite decent listens. They have had one with Mowbray and another with McClaren, Beswick and Harrison as well so far.
    • I think Hugill was all too often on the ground and I couldn't stand that in a big physical lad, more-so than the regular diving player... but I also think he'd have scored more goals under Woodgate than he did Pulis. Though you could probably apply that to a lot of strikers.
    • I disagree. Replacing Britt is not the hard part imo. Getting a good fee for him under the current circumstances with 1yr left on his deal is the hard part. Ultimately we need to find a striker who gets between 12-15 goals a season as that is what we would lose with Britt.    One of the ITK members on here said we are looking at Lyle Taylor who out of contract at end of season. He has 11 goals to his name and has missed a decent chunk of season. Other players include Nakhi Wells who cost Bristol £5m (same fee as we are maybe looking at for Britt) and has 15 goals. Hugill on loan at QPR has 11 goals Woodrow at Barnsely has 14 goals Out of contract Fletcher at Sheff Wed has 13 goals. I am not suggesting we should look at any of them but they have all offered better value for money than britt so getting more bang for your buck than we have from Britt is not hard. Might be for us due to our past incompetent scouting department but some other clubs managed it. Maybe we can this summer...
