Summer Transfer Window 2018.

Recommended Posts

Alfie Mawson has just gone for about £18/20 million. I think £14/16million for Gibson could be fair.

it might force any other clubs interested to act. Everton. Could start a bidding war :D

We've rejected a 11 million pound bid for Ben Gibson from Burnley and haven't put a value on him as he's rated highly (Northern Echo)

The Echo reckon it was £11m, has been rejected and Burnley haven't come back with another offer yet

SNAP!

I'd rather sell gibson than Traore. Gibson was average last year and won't make the impact on the championship that adama will

I’ve seen absolutely nothing to suggest Masson is actually as good as Gibson, never mind £4m-£6m better.

What happens if Gibson isn't average next season?  What happens if he is as good as he was for the previous three seasons in a row?  What if Traore doesn't replicate the few good months he's had in his career?  Always amazes me how people judge players on here, I suppose that's why every summer we've stormed the transfer window and by every January we're needing to sort out the mess of the terrible transfer window we had the previous summer  :)

If those things happen then I'd be wrong. But I don't think they will. And I don't think people on here have much bearing on Boro's actual transfer activity tbh!

I don’t think that the way people on here judge players has that much to do with the club’s transfer dealings.

You hate all of our players anyway, CT ;)

Well its going to be very interesting to see if anybody is brought in tomorrow to make them eligible to play on Saturday. I get the feeling that there wont be!

#Wolves are set to smash their transfer record with the £18m capture of Middlesbrough's Adama Traore before Thursday's deadline. Deal should go through early next week #wwfc #utb telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/… via @telefootball

If so, they'd be on the bench at best given game is so close.

Fresh from the telegraph, Wolves to make the bid in the coming days. Apparently Adama has been running today, so might squeek onto the bench Saturday.

Northern Echo say the Gibson bid has been rejected and no price set, he's too valuable.

    • Sorry but this is such a naive perspective, BD. There is literally no one on this planet who has the authority to say that this virus is not dangerous in circumstances that literally involves close contact with other human beings. Nobody knows of a way to absolutely 100% not transmit the virus other than to literally not be next to people when you have it. Generally speaking, you have a point, I get that we can't just hide away in our homes forever. But the idea that there are circumstances in which people can be in physical contact with each other as they used to be and still be 100% safe really undermines where you're going with this. There are varying rates of risk and we can't move forward until everyone acknowledges that.
    • My hope is relegated clubs/those aiming for promotion might see Britt as a cheaper alternative to the other prolific strikers in this league. Dont want to start a debate on whether Britt is prolific but hope fellow board members get point am trying to make? He is viewed as one of the more established leading forwards at this level given he virtually guarantees you double figures each season at this level (bar this one) I imagine any offer of approx £4m+ gets you Britt..
    • I reckon the championship restart be a week later but the fixture schedule is gonna be ridiculous!
    • Or maybe there won’t be one. We can’t keep everything under lockdown until the virus is completely gone or there is a 100% cure. Obviously money is a question because a lot of jobs depend on the football industry but the professional sport itself is a very safe environment for everyone that’s in it.  The governments around Europe are simply starting various businesses up that is deemed safe and professional football behind closed doors isn’t dangerous in any way.
