Summer Transfer Window 2018.

I've had this thought too. I think if adama was really keen on a move to wolves hed have been on to his agent to be telling them to activate the clause so he can get moved and settled in or he'll sign a new deal with boro or go elsewhere.

I think he's waiting for a bigger team to come in for him and that he might sign the contract rather than go to wolves.

He's 100% waiting for a bigger club.

And why would he sign a different contract now? Its in his favour not to. If he has a good season then he will be a really cheap option for a premier club at £18m.

Put a bigger release clause in?

Cant see how that is in Traores interest.

i was thinking about the comments on how happy he is here and maybe he would take a pay rise and at the same time allow a higher release clause - if he wants to go we don't have to sell at the release clause, or maybe just maybe the wine has clouded my thinking and I'm being all fanciful and positive.

I will enjoy it while it lasts - reality will hit home tomorrow

The kind of European team who would want Traore probably couldn’t afford the £18m up front cost

Im trying to imagine him at a decent European club with good players around him, then what he would do with all that space he doesnt get in the championship

Just heard somebody say why is it Liverpool didn't have to accept the Suarez offer by ***nal when they matched the release clause a few seasons ago. Does anyone know why?

Because it wasn’t a release clause. They simply had to inform Suarez of bid over a certain amount but weren’t obliged to accept it.

The way I've just read it is that Liverpool were obliged to negotiate but not sell. So the player would have to be informed it was there. Suarez ended up having his arm twisted to stay under the pretence of being allowed to leave a year later to a side elsewhere in Europe (supposedly because he was sick of the press treatment over here, and who can blame him).

And to be fair... it worked out rather well for him

    • This is hardly encouraging considering we are going to need two “Striker wise, we’ve probably been looking for 12 months – and we’re still no nearer getting one.”
    • I think there's a clause in his contract that states he's to blame for every goal we concede...even if he isn't playing. Apart from the ones that are obviously Bettinelli's fault. 😉
    • Good point - probably the year after then. God its like discussing how much longer Warnock is going to go on for, isn't it? 😁   Fair point. A big part of longevity and how long you maintain your physical fitness, mental faculties etc. is down to how active you are and how you exercise the grey matter. She should probably start doing a couple of laps of Sandringham every morning, Captain Tom style. Followed by a leisurely afternoon of sudoku, then an intense evening session of Call of Duty. 😉
    • Yeah it’s not the same scenario as your Aunty Doris that lived in sheltered accommodation in Redcar with just a portable tv a fan heater and a pile of Gardner’s World magazines for company, that pines for her recently departed husband, complains about the food and doesn’t get on with the rest of the residents, especially that Maureen who drinks Campari on Friday afternoons and insists on being a member of every club and committee going.
    • I wonder how many goals will be Djed Spence's fault today, and those that aren't, still are 🤔😭
