Yeah unfortunately the word is that if we stay up Warnock has already agreed to staying on. I just feel it's the same old mistake that we are doing for the sake of a year.... Especially when when it's an ideal time to put foundations in place with a whole new group of players.
A bit of a sour taste of the story of Leadbitter, Valdes and Karanka being true. I’d have liked to think that Karanka would have backed his captain who was a leader. Yes, Valdes might be the more accomplished player in terms of prestige. But Grant would run through walls for us and played through injections. I can understand from a dressing room point of view how it would be upsetting for your manager to choose Valdes over Leadbitter.
Maybe Aitor knew he had to keep Valdes on side else we’d be left with Bad Guzan to try and keep us up...
I don’t agree that players were signed without AKs consent, but I don’t think that Gibson would let a manager have free reign over transfers. I hope Warnock would advise Gibson that he needs to let go of the reigns in terms of recruitment.
I'd go for a lineup of;
Djiksteel*, Shotton, Fry, Friend, Coulson**
Saville, Howson, Tavernier***
* Spence hasn't done much wrong, but I think he's dropped off in form since the Millwall game. I reckon that knock to the face has knocked his confidence. He was largely non-existent in the 2nd half and the Bristol game.
**Similar to Spence, Johnson hasn't really done much wrong. But playing away from home I'd like to see us set-up with more pace in the team.
***McNair needs to be dropped, how Saville was taken off before him is beyond me! I think he is too slow in terms of releasing the ball, and against Bristol any half chance we had to counter he'd always check back and break the momentum of the counter up. Think Tav looked lively when he came on and think he could suit a counter attacking game.
I was also going to suggest dropping Friend for Moukoudi, but as of this morning it appears he has played his game with us. Shame as I think he'll end up being a good player.
