Summer Transfer Window 2018.

Recommended Posts

Everton fans saying that Martina is on 30-40k a week. If we are really interested that is likely to be the cause of the holdup. There is no way we are going to pay that. Maybe half. He still has two years left so Everton might have to pay him off which will take time to negotiate or pay a significant part of his wages for the last two years.

Preston would probably be decent for him. We need a few faces ourselves first though.

Don't think we can let him go anywhere, Gestede is fragile, Hugill yet to be fit, Braithwaite may be leaving that leaves Britt & Fletcher

I honestly thought there would have been more rumours or activity post the transfer window ...

I agree people just don’t make up rumours like they used to.

Maybe they are ready to pay his 30-40k wages in full and we are not.

Anyone hear the rumour about Martina to Stoke? Potty.

Just seen this on Twitter... he has 100% been training at Rockcliffe since last Thursday though which is even more bonkers

Or maybe they're willing to actually take him on loan and we're hoping for his contract to be cancelled so we can still try for Besic & Bolasie.

Do you know if Besic has by any chance?

After seeing Everton’s fans thoughts on him I’m really not bothered

Everton fans hate most of their players. It seems like whenever a player is rumoured to leave they sharpen their knvies and dust off their pitchforks. At Championship level I don't think we could find many better players who can come in and cover both full back which would be key for us.

Everton are a Premier League mainstay who are aiming to consistently achieve European football. We're a Championship team aiming for promotion.

If we can get someone else, so be it, I won't be too bothered. But on paper, he covers a lot of positions for us. Him not being at their level doesn't put me off.

If it helps, Southampton fans were delighted when he left them as well...

    • That's one of the reasons I don't think he'll get sacked. You saw how easy our fans were swayed in the summer by one press conference and a handful of Gazette articles.  If we got relegated we'd just have a massive PR campaign from the club and Gazette and by August our fans would be raring to go again.
    • Don't know if this counts as other boro stuff, but media saying Barcelona are trying to get Braithwaite hahaha
    • I don’t think Woodgate will get sacked this season, Gibson has faith in him and wants him to develop as a manager. As long as people buy season tickets, Gibbo will keep him in his role. If you want him out, you know what to do.......
    • I honestly don't see us being cut adrift at any point.  As bad as things have been, I still think we'll scrape enough points together to keep our heads above the bottom 3.  To answer your question about how bad things would have to be for Woodgate to get sacked, I'm not sure whether he'll even get sacked if we fall into the bottom 3 or get relegated.
    • The short term vision of the club is to offload the high earners at the first possible opportunity. Is it any surprise that those players aren’t exactly killing themselves for the club’s cause?    The medium term vision, although not popular with many supporters must be to bring through young players, the likes of Spence and Coulson and flog ‘em for big bucks.   The long term vision? Gibbo wants to own a unicorn farm and he’s going to put Woody in charge. The money raised by selling unicorns will go towards buying top English talent that will propel us to the promised land.
