Or it’s possible besic will be taking claytons spot and saville would challenge wing.

i was thinking that. that means leadbitter and clayton barely playing. must mean one or both are leaving if that was true.

Pogatatez and Huth, I am sure I remember them being good?

Pogatetz was good, but.. Some of his tackles were borderline insane. I remember him breaking someone's leg against Man Utd.

I suppose he was 'hard but fair' for the most part.

pog was pretty average i recall. a poor left back but okay cb. always had a mistake in him with reckless challenges.

Possebon in the Carling Cup, I remember being sat in the Stretford End for that game and the atmosphere died for a bit after that challenge haha

Pulis has said mutliple times how much he rates Ayala and that he's one of the best cb's in the league. He will replace Fry in due course.

True. I just think Fry is better. Just my opinion though

Fry might be better in time, but would you really rather have fry now over Ayala?

That game v Brighton when we got promoted still stands out as one of the best defensive displays a Boro player has ever done in my opinion.

You clearly never watch enough of Southgate and ehiogu !! :P

Southgate would be my first defensive pick from my 49 years on this planet, having seen my first forgettable game at age 4. Thanks Dad.

Who to play with him though from Boam, Maddren, Mowbray, Pallister, Ehiogu and Woodgate... did I miss anyone?

Kevin beattie hardly ever fit but boy when he was Nigel Pearson wasn’t bad either

Ryan woods signingfor stoke

Not sure whether I'd sign for Stoke from Brentford at this current time, but I assume it includes a massive pay rise  :cowboy:

Sounds like stoke and rowett were at the same ‘how to smash the league’ seminar we went to.

I think he is from Stoke so that's probably why he has gone regardless.

    • Um...wasn't he a bit before the Robson era? 😉 "Was thinking earlier on about ex Boro players who would fit straight away into the current set up from the Robson era before the days of Junihio and the like and whether or not with the current squad are there any players you would be able to compare them with?" Or were you comparing John Hickton to Mikkel Beck? 😁   Though if we are going that far back, I'd happily have Brian Clough back.
    • Dont understand why anyone would not want warnock in charge next season. Theres no one better at this level. I dont care what anyone says but were over achieving this season when you look at the squad we've got.
    • I was thinking much the same. We struggle to attract decent players at the best of times, even when we have cash to splash (hence why we often seem to pay over the odds for players who are average at best). Right now I just can't see us bringing anyone in who will significantly improve our squad and aid a play-off push. That being the case, if all we're going to do is get a couple of lads in as cover, in the event of injuries, or first team players needing a rest, the most sensible option is short term loan signings.
    • I know you're doing your "thing" again but I certainly wouldnt be giving warnock money either now. A couple of loans would be nice but Warnock has never been good at spending money and I'd rather we weren't left with another Hall or Akpom when we hopefully get a new guy in for next season.
    • Hope we do get some more bodies in, we were lacking something last game with not much to change it
