SmogDane 4,052
:crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: World class goalkeeper, the prodigal son ... *** penalty kicks from most danes .. Am gutted .. we deserved to go through, I think .. We wanted it more in the ordinary game time ... Now I will cheer for England and Sweden!
Borodane 6,246
Very equal game. Don’t think one deserved it more than the other. *** poor penalty the last one
SmogDane 4,052
Just saw a post match interview with Kasper Schmeichel ... He was itching to say, that he was disapointed with the chosen shooters efforts .. when he had done his utmost and saved their asses a few times... But he behaved :/
Betamaxman 14
Unlucky lads. I was willing Schmeichel to make that last save... but it wasn't to be!
Downsouth 6,175
I too was gutted for our lads from Denmark and maybe KS have said it as he would not be wrong, bloody awful penalties and you could see the fear in the last takers eyes
Borodane 6,246
I still can't fathom how Jørgensen was picked as the decisive penalty taker. Sure he's been taking penalties throughout his career at various level but this is a guy who's had a torrid season hasn't done well with Denmark in about a year, has had a poor world cup and has only taken one penalty in the last year before this - which is missed! How was he ever in a state of mind to take such an important penalty. Credit to him for stepping up but the coach should never have put him in such a position. But someone has to miss, and even set piece specialists like Eriksen and Schöne missed. They should take a look at Simon Kjær who just stepped up and hammered the ball into the roof of the net. Stop all that fancy start-stop runup to the ball and just pick a side and smash it high.
SmogDane 4,052
The "mourning" after.... Still gutted about having a specialist in Kasper Schmeichel and then a bunch of nervous non-cool fellows to try to score just 4 out of 5, which would be enough .. Even 3 out of 5 would pave the way for another chance of goint through to the last 8... And to sum it all up, the Gazette has a question on FB today, with "how would you take a Penna against the Geordies in a FA Cup last 8 game" #SchmeichelmustfeelmorecrucifiedthanJC
SmogDane 4,052
Can we give this guy a Danish passport, please!
Betamaxman 14
I reckon the winner of this game (Brazil v Mexico) must have a good chance of winning the whole thing. Them or France, if you ask me.

I agree Brazil Mexico and France. Or Croatia as dark horses and if Belgium get their act together have a shot. But saying that we all know ‘It’s coming home’ :D

Not sure Mexico would, think they were made to look better than they actually are by an underperforming German side. This tournament is the weirdest I can remember, none of the big teams have really been excellent.
smogsterking the Inspirati 2,453
I'm liking Mexico leaving 3 up at corners. I don't know why other teams don't do similar it allows teams to counter quickly and it stops the area being too crowded which in itself causes problems.

I don't think we're good enough to beat Brazil. Edit: I don't think our defence is good enough. I think Brazil would put two past us... which would mean us needing to score three to win. smogsterking the Inspirati 2,453
I just can't like a team with Neymar in it. For all his qualities his theatrics are an embarrassment. Proven today when the Mexican stepped on his foot.
