Millwall v Boro 04-Aug-2018

Super subs! Not sure the top three places have ever all been occupied by substitutes before. Well done Tav on your oneBoro MOTM award.

There's certainly no doubt about which players the forum would like to see replaced for tonights game :)

Leadbitter, Downing, Clayton and Flint....I can’t see that happening.

Bench the 3 lowest and replace them with the 3 in the top ... That would make the older guard fight for the spot... a chance to prove, they still have it in them ..

If you don't have to fear competition (like Downing always playing) you don't perform with the same integrity (I might use the wrong word here)

AK did it.. benched Stewey and it worked on his commitment!

Was a stupid header to make, but Randolph could have easily come out and got it if he'd been more alert...

Maddo said something like he thought Gregory was going to dink it. He's a keeper, I'm not, so perhaps he'll have a good explanation but I don't see how he thought that was going to be the case. It was poor goalkeeping.

I think he was more concerned about going to ground and fouling him tbh. If he charged out and gave away the pen the ref might have sent him off. I know they've changed the rules but still, keepers still see red when giving pens away sometimes.

It is poor keeping, but I think something like that makes sense.

Watching it, the jump is almost like an instinctual flinch, but Gregory doesn't make the contact he's looking for, but enough to actually roll it under him.

Boro v Sheffield Utd 07-Aug-2018

A young gun gets the award again. Lewis Wing take a bow.

Pulis also gets an honorable mention for his tactical dominance over Chris Wilder

    • Why is there two threads BORO v Leeds?
    • There are 8 Managers in the Championship the same age or even younger than Woodgate (40 years old), thats a third of the Division he is operating in. To me a young Manager is a 23 year old fresh out of Uni. Football is different to Industry, at 40 years old you are a grown man with a few miles on the clock unlike a University graduate and shouldn't be prone to being naive through a lack of experience. By all means there is a lot to learn in any new role but you have been learning (or should have) in the Industry you are managing in by being exposed to different Managers and different tactics for probably the best part of twenty or more years. Alex Neil and Lee Johnson are both two years younger than Woodgate at 38. If you are entering a management role with a handicap which affects the business then perhaps Horse Racing or Golf is a better profession to take up. Not everyone can be a Manager, it takes a lot more than just being a good worker in an Industry to have the skills, Bobby Charlton is probably the best example. Being very good at a particular job be it a shop floor operative or a footballer doesn't necessarily equip you to be a Manager. To me there is a very basic problem in that I don't see the traits or characteristics that would remotely consider me to think Woodgate would be a successful manager. Of the four Clubs beneath us in the Championship only Cowley is the same age as Woodgate, the others are all older.
    • I only hope the media are reporting on a brilliant BORO performance after taking 3 points at home and NOT crowd trouble.  Regardless of performance I don’t think the crowd will not turn on Woody simply because they hate Leeds more, I think there will be some solidarity and a lot of passion.  I am not going for a win but I have a gut feeling a draw is quite likely. I’m expecting a decent performance and if we kick off well, the crowd will get behind the players and carry us home.
    • Thing is, one man does not make a team. He's gonna need at least a couple of others to step up and help him. If anyone in our squad can be the midfield anchor I would agree its Adam...but he can't do it on his own. We have to hope a few others decide to turn up as well.
    • I think you'll be in luck...there will definitely be 3 more points against Leeds' season tally by the end of the game. 😂   Seriously, I hope Leeds leave the Riverside pointless. If nothing else, some very optimistic punters will make a few quid out of it and we'll be 3 points closer to safety. But Boro will need to back it up with another couple of results before I start feeling even remotely optimistic about the club's future again.
