wilsoncgp 9,230
Did someone say Lego? https://media1.tenor.com/images/1988fa100f4e90036526b6e69b050cb1/tenor.gif[/img] So we move onto the best cup competition in the world which only true champions like Gareth Southgate can say they have won. https://media.giphy.com/media/l0Ex7BJudAvYQGlmE/giphy.gif[/img] Unlike Sir Gareth, our next opposition's manager played on the losing side in Cardiff in 2004. His Notts County side also failed to achieve promotion last year, losing to Coventry in the semi-final of the play-offs. https://78.media.tumblr.com/a81c33bfdd07dab738ec8e9cf665d6f8/tumblr_or3cnkpRpe1qb77hzo2_540.gif[/img] But fear not Kev, for the Carabao Cup has returned. In all the cup draw confusion, who knows, the energy drink fanatics of Carabao may mess up enough to accidentally place you in the final. You'll be walking into Wembley like: https://media.giphy.com/media/rCAVWjzASyNlm/giphy.gif[/img] Well. Maybe not. Because I know the Middlesbrough manager will have something to say about that: https://media.giphy.com/media/l3q2DfOs84k3BNJ7O/giphy.gif[/img] So get yourself down to the Riverside, snap yourself up a Bovril and take your seat. It won't cost you too much. https://media.giphy.com/media/nKLRWRxB0CStO/giphy.gif[/img] The Lego B Team: Dimi Shotton Wood Fry Johnson De Sart Leadbitter McNair Chapman Fletcher Tavernier Managed by Batman https://media1.tenor.com/images/78f293c47438e28433be9cad95a903f7/tenor.gif[/img] The Blocks from the Meadow: Fitzsimons Tootle Duffy Brisley Jones Thomas Vaughan Hewitt Boldewijn Stead Hemmings Managed by Kevin 'giz a kiss' Nolan https://media.giphy.com/media/Qw1EGNHRXtqG4/giphy.gif[/img] Questions: What's your expected line-up and who would you pick? Will we finally see Harry Chapman make a first-team debut? What's the score going to be? Where were you when Kevin Nolan was collecting his runners up medal in 2004? What Boro goal would you love to be immortalised in Lego stop-motion form? Is anybody else hoping we lose this game so I don't have to make another thread? :nervous:
Denzel Zanzibar 6,931
I ***ing love Lego! Pretty much what you posted, maybe Lonergan instead of Dimi in goal We'll win 2 or 3 nil On the toilet Maccarone's diving header against Steaua No, your threads are excellent. The next one should be about pirates, btw.
estonpidge 1,442
Don't think we'll see Shotton play, if he's ready Ayala might replace Fry. Possibly McNair to start at CB.
wilsoncgp 9,230
I think our squad might demand Shotton plays. Unless he plays Fry at right back. I don't think we'll see Ayala back yet, he'll have only just started his comeback training. I suppose he could play Mahmutovic, mind.
Brunners 7,952
I think our squad might demand Shotton plays. Unless he plays Fry at right back. I don't think we'll see Ayala back yet, he'll have only just started his comeback training. I suppose he could play Mahmutovic, mind. Or Wood, who he was impressed enough with to give an actual squad number, he's gotta be somewhat in the reckoning.
Changing Times 12,220
Put McNair at right back if he's ready to go and then play Leadbitter, Tavenier and de Sart in midfield? Play one of the young lads alongside Flint or Shotton in the middle. Johnson, Chapman, Fletcher as the attacking trio and all you're looking for is a left back. That's assuming he wants to make that many changes.
estonpidge 1,442
his interview seemed to suggest wholesale changes to give the first team a break. (also think it's a chance to highlight our lack of depth yet again.)
Snowblind 1,711
With the wholesale changes in mind: GK - Lonergan RB - McNair CB - Mahmutovic CB - Wood LB - Johnson DM - Leadbitter CM - De Sart CM - Sylla? Liddle? RW - Chapman ST - Fletcher LW - Tavernier
Dan1234 1,048
Not really fussed who plays as long as Chapman gets a start. He's impressed every time I've seen him and I fully believe he would take off if he was given a run in the team.
Downsouth 6,176
Great o/p Wilson and as others have indicated I do not think we have enough players to make sweeping changes. I do not want to see a slip up at the lego riverside model
Borodane 6,246
I want to see us progress but obviously some need a rest and others need minutes. Our biggest headache is at full back positions where we don't really have any players to come in. I think Fry and Flint should start again just to build on their relationship in the centre. We need that common understanding back there. If we need to rest players it'll probably be the 4-3-2-1 formation which will allow players like Tav, Chapman, Leadbitter, de Sart to play. Wing could probably play again to get more minutes which would also allow McNair to slot in at RB. This game certainly highlights that we need bodies through the door asap. wilsoncgp 9,230
I'm not entirely sure if McNair is a right back or if TP played him there to get him used to the way Wing and Howson have been playing when we played out of defence. I highly suspect Wood will play but I'd be surprised to see him go to RB. So I reckon it's between Shotton and Fry. Depends if Flint plays, I guess.
Duvel 2,446
I think McNair started his career as a RB at United.
Borodane 6,246
According to Transfermarkt McNair har only played RB 6 times, but they can obviously be wrong. I'd imagine he should be able to cover that position against Notts County.
wilsoncgp 9,230
I guess so! I'd like to see him play midfield so he gets chance to show the Riverside what he can do in his natural position though.
