Boro Vs Derby County 1-1 (Bogle OG)

Recommended Posts

Southgate was sacked after a win.

We were in 4th place, one point off the top.

Pulis isn’t going to go. we can only hope we manage to stay in or around the top two and get some creative players in January.

I'm terrified of him spending the last of our money.

Look at his signings up to now. We lost our 3 best players in the summer and invested what? 15m? in Saville/Hugill and Mcnair.

well look at the players we where after and dident get, he even wanted Mitrovic last season....

Yea and all these attacking players he's after keep choosing other clubs, wonder why that is? Britt hasn't been on form but bloody hell look what the blokes working with, balls lumped up to him with nobody within 30 yards. He's making Britt look worse than he is playing to his weaknesses. The good stint we had Braithwaite up there with him looking to play him in seemed to working but he couldn't wait to change that.

Our forwards been isolated upfront with no support.

Wikipedia must be wrong because it says pulis only joined the club last December but he must of been here for the last 10 years

But for our keeper yet again, we would have been 3 down at half time, it says it all that our equalizer comes from an opposition player under no pressure who's gifted us a point.

We have a squad full of get stuck in workhorses with no creativity in midfield between them, it says it all when we rely on one of the oldest men in the squad Downing to give us anything like a creative spark. This is a typical Pulis side, not one player in the squad who could get you out of your seat, those who are enjoying this football must be easily pleased I'm sick to *** of it already.

Call me an old idiot if you will (I’m probably walking into that one) but there are a couple of points regarding Pulis that I don’t really understand.

One is that we have one of the most expensive and talented (on paper, at least) squads in the league and yet we’re still punching below our weight. Basically, this seems to suggest that either the tactics are wrong or that there’s something amiss in the dressing room. It seems illogical to blame 11 players for underachieving and let 1 manager get off scot-free.

The second point is that, given that Pulis is reputed to be the set-piece specialist, we seem to be scoring precious few goals from set-pieces anymore. We did earlier in the season, but they seem to have dried up. I cannot believe that they are not practised, as that would not be like Pulis, would it? So it might be logical to assume that the teams we play against know pretty well what we are going to do in any given situation.

In other words, our tactics are predictable, which also contributes to relatively dull football. No spark. No inventiveness. Good players stifled.

I do not want to see Pulis leave before the end of the season because that generally causes more harm than good. We are top of the league, so there is no reason at all for drastic action. But someone needs a good kick up the *** to get us playing the sort of football of which we are more than capable.

I can see supporters numbers dropping. We are up mingeling at the top but unless things change it won't be for long.. I can't make my mind up if Pulis is getting the best out of a poor team or the cause of it. Sureal times.

ZERO shots on target! Not so sure to agree or disagree with you.

I'm just utterly deflated with the whole thing now, I disagree with the opinion that we've got one of the most talented squads. The squad is unbalanced with no pace or flair.

I'm just completely bored at the match now, I don't mind pragmatic and defensive football, I don't expect to be entertained but I expect us to look like we have some desire to want to try and win the game.

We started the game flat again, we had 5 at the back (it wasn't wing backs because they weren't going forward) and we sat deep looking like we were the away team. Pulis obviously got his tactics wrong again because he was forced to change things but let's be honest Derby should have been out of sight.

I actually felt embarrassed when we equalised because there's no way we deserved it.

I've come full circle about what I want to watch now, I said I'd accept a season of Pulis football if he got us promoted. Now I'm of the opinion that I'd rather watch a mid table team that try and play some football. The match day experience is just utterly depressing under Pulis.

Everyone keeps saying that we might be ok once we get the players in we need in January but does anyone have any faith in the club identifying the right kind of players? We had 3 months in the summer to sign some flair and we couldn't do it, how can we expect to get the right players in a month and in a window in which it's more difficult to do deals.

I have no faith in Pulis anymore and even less faith in the club, it's pointless sacking him because Gibson's track record at replacing managers is awful. We are also useless in the recruitment side of the club so it's not all Pulis/Monk's fault.

I watch a lot of championship football and there's lots of clubs who look like they are progressing. We feel like a club which is stale both on and off the pitch. The game has moved on and I think we've got a chairman and manager who the game has passed by.

I'm trying to paint the picture of what I say when I say the set pieces drying up is really bad news for us people don't realise the extent to which we are built to earn and capitalise on set pieces.

From 2009-2012 Stoke City scored around 35-36 PL goals per season and on average *20* of those goals per season were set pieces over 55%. His primetime at WBA he was closing on 20 set piece goals again it's when those set piece goals dried up WBA started really struggling what happened to us since the Leeds game? Set piece goals have absolutely dried up so we have gotten poor results in general and games that should be put away Hull/Rotherham we drop 4 points. We can argue about the lack of pace in the team all we want we've been saying that for years anyway when we fielded Reach/Stuani wide we bemoaned the same thing doesn't change the disparity in this squad being just ridiculously high valued at close to 80 million something Aitor did not have the luxury of dealing with so the poor Tony line doesn't wash with me he has a squad he's built he might have a couple too many strikers from previous managers he doesn't like but it's not like they're useless journeyman I mean Christ we could cobble together a bench worth over 20 million not many teams in this league that could do that.

Most alarming thing for me in the past 6 weeks has been how poor our set pieces are the only way we get promoted is if we pull in 25-30 set piece goals and that's on the low side of what I'd expect from us the fact week to week, besides today we were better today, our set pieces just do not get better is way more alarming than Britt running down alleys for 90 minutes or us wacking 40 yard diagonals. If we don't start scoring set piece goals soon we'll miss benchmarks and fall behind I'm not even going to go there on we can sign players in January because well I mean... I mean come on I'm terrified of what we'll do in January it'll either be reckless, incompetent or inadequate I don't even want to think about another transfer window with us at the minute.

Good point about the set pieces, but don't equate our transfer spend with ability though.

Britt cost 16m and he doesn't look like he's worth 5m at the moment. Gestede and Fletcher were 7m each when they're not worth anywhere near that combined.

If this squad cost 80m, we've overpaid by about 50m. A lot of the crap wasn't bought by Pulis but the players he has brought in are no better either.
