Boro v Aston Villa 0-3

We were eye catching in Karanka's early reign? Those are some rose tinted spectacles my friend.

Karanka took over November 2013 - then in 2014.......

Jan 25th Leicester 2-0 Boro

Jan 28th Boro 0-0 Wigan

Feb 1st Doncaster 0-0 Boro

Feb 8th Blackburn 0-0 Boro

Feb 15th Watford 1-0 Boro

Feb 22nd Boro 0-0 Leeds

March 1st Wednesday 1-0 Boro

7 consecutive games without a goal.

My memory is failing due to the large quantities of drink I've forced through it over the years so I've checked through the results of the 14/15 and 15/16 seasons, where was this period where we were scoring goals for fun and tearing teams apart?

I mean, literally nobody as said that we were scoring goals for fun, or tearing anyone apart, so that hyperbole is a bit unwarranted.

But in the first half of the of the 14/15 season, we scored 3 goals twice, 4 goals twice, and 5 goals once. Yes that's not exactly Barcelona, but it's a lot more expansive and exciting than we're playing now.

Nobody is saying that we were this fantastic footballing side, but we had a combination of Adomah, Kike, Bamford, Vossen, Reach and Tomlin playing most matches, so we generally had 4 attacking players on the pitch at any one time, and they played some nice stuff.

It looks like Villa's best form of defense is attack they've scored a few and let quite a few in. I think we could get at their defense and I think this will be a decent game to watch, I fancy a few goals and hopefully us edging Villa out.

I said on here I thought Abraham would be a good loan signing 10 goals so far.

Expecting Boro to win this comfortably I reckon about 3-0.

Villa have more holes in their defence than a Tetley tea bag.

Boro will capitalise on this,(hopefully).   :)

Well that would be an excellent day before birthday present for me :cheese:

Bloody hell DS is it that time of the year again.  :)

You do realise when I said comfortable it was with tongue in cheek.

I can't remember the last time we actually had a comfortable win.

I think you may have been about 21 when that last happened.  :cheese:

Great OP as usual Tom.

I can see a draw here. 0-0 with us being on the ropes for much of the game. Hopefully I'm wrong and we can contain Villas attacking threat and counter effectively and QUICKLY. We'll need more runs like Tav's the other day.

2-0 against Wigan a few weeks ago was rather comfortable.

Wowza! Really positive vibes there!

I think this could be a good test for Boro remembering the IMO tepid performances in the play offs. Win or lose I think it could be a measure of the team... and to add to the positive vibes...

Last season I'd have said we were odds on to lose and in fact we were maybe odds on to lose against any of the teams at the top end of the table but this season we've had some better results so who knows? We may not lose :D

3-0 against Sheff U was also comfy, we only played football for 25 minutes ;)
