Who was it that mentioned Jenkins coming back? Think that's happening as well.

Surprised after the way we got rid of him but another good one to be coming back.

Yeah I wrote about Jenkins yesterday. Good move I feel.

it's like Gibbo has picked his favourite Boro coaches from the last 20 years and created an "All Star" team

Not the appointment I would have liked, but I'll get behind the guys and lets see how it goes. Hope he proves everyone wrong. UTB

I hope Robbie Keane is part of the backroom staff, he's currently assistant at Ireland though isn't he?

Cheers.

I suppose that doesn't specifically say it's about the attacking style, but I can see why it might set off the alarm bells either way.

I really hope Gibson knows what he's doing.

But didn't Southgate fail miserably then?

How do we know he didn't think "maybe I should have listened to Steve Round more"  - apparently you learn from your mistakes. How do we know that Steve Round didn't change after leaving here?

There's a lot of assumptions going on based on very little.

An appointment that needs time, but by all accounts will not be given time by the fans because of the general feeling of being short-changed. Gibbo really doesn't have his finger on the pulse with this appointment and the way it's come about, should've been announced the day after Pulis left. I think most of the ire at this decision will be aimed at SG himself.

Woodgate will have my support until the day he's not the Middlesbrough manager anymore.

I like how even Keane, the one member of the new backroom team that hasn't previously been employed here, and even he is a player we were linked with regularly for about 15 years.

Yeah same. I hope most fans view this the same way - be unhappy with the appointment by all means, and theres plenty to be unhappy about. But that's not woodgates fault. Get behind him and the team until he gives us damn good reason not to. If it goes wrong this one is all on Gibson, and that's where the frustration should be aimed towards.

    • Well very pleased to see England close the day on 156-3. Very controlled and patient batting for most of the day from Root and Denly have gotten us to this stage. Stokes in the last hour of the day came into bat at 5 in survival mode and made 2 runs (not out) off 50 balls. The first session of tomorrow's play will decide the outcome of this test match (and the Ashes). If Stokes and Root can survive the first 8 overs of play unscathed. At which point the new ball is available to Australia. They will then have to contend with the new ball and the threats that come with it. If they can get to lunch unscathed after the new ball I think that is when the test becomes ours to lose. At this stage I'd happily take England scoring 30 runs all session if it meant losing no wickets. It will also be England's highest ever run chase if we are successful.
    • Our problem has been that we just don't score goals, we've been amongst the lowest scorers in the championship both pre and post our 1 season recently in the PL. This season, although it's early on, seems to be going the same way. While Britt does get goals, he's not what you'd call prolific, we've been set up as a defensive team for a few years now through different managers and scoring has been an added bonus to not conceding goals.
    • No worse than some of the goals our players have missed, and he also scored today. Hugill has scored 3 goals so far this season. That's more than our top scorers. Imagine if he'd scored at the same rate for us as he is now - we might have gone up! Not sure what we do to our strikers - they always seem to do well for everyone else but do less well for us. Bamford a possible exception as he did well for us, although he's really banging them in for Leeds at the moment.
