p_mards 1,365 Posted June 13, 2019 Share Posted June 13, 2019 Seen as Steve Round is out of the running I'm sure that we can identify plenty of good Director of Football/Sporting Director candidates domestically. There are loads of very efficiently running smaller Championship and top end League One clubs that operate very well like Brentford, Preston, Luton, Barnsley, Portsmouth etc. If we just go after big names such as Round then it narrows our pool of candidates and it doesn't give an opportunity to those lesser known people who could be the better option. We need to try to find our own Stuart Webber - who oversaw Huddersfield and Norwich's rises. He wasn't a big name but has proved himself as a better than any better known names like Steve Round. Selfishly speaking tho I think I’m happier having rumours to think about and discuss over a wall of silence then a fait acompli with a grinning Bauser a scarf held hopefully the right side up,and an appointment that leaves certain questions again unanswered which are the same ones most supporters have had since the questions of who will replace Smac. How can it be that nobody seems to want to come here? Gazette have started mentioning Downing - if it ends up a Woodgate/Downing management team I think it will kick off!
