Lurker 2,118
So the whole coaching additions was a bit of a *** show Round was told he'd be DoF/Technical Director. Got here and was offered the assistants job. Refused it Leo was offered the assistants job, got here and it was GK coach, refused it and offered First Team Coach Keane offered a coaching role, refused it and wanted the assistants job. Rosenior was U23s manager, don't know why he refused.
Brunners 7,952
So what the hell happened then? Why did we move goalposts on everyone?

I can't imagine we'd be so desperate to get Keane in that we'd just give him whatever he wanted, for example.
smogsterking the Inspirati 2,453
It's almost like we have Boris Johnsoned the negotiations by looks of it. I think he promised half the Tory party the same rules in his cabinet.
Changing Times 12,218
It would mean that we offered the assistant manager job to three different people, which is some going really when you think about it. It would also appear that somewhere along the line we went from wanting a DoF to not wanting one, presumably in quite a short space of time as well, which would call into question this new approach and how well thought out it has been? Maybe Rosenior refused because he found out he was the only one who wasn't offered the assistant manager's job and felt left out? ?

It would have been pretty awkward if Round had accepted the job of assistant manager only to have someone else brought into the role he was originally offered. Of course we could have made a calculation that he wouldn't accept it so the offer was only for show. Edited June 24, 2019 by Changing Times
Denzel Zanzibar 6,931
I'd heard that Round was originally offered the DoF position, no idea why we moved the goalposts to get rid of the role entirely. I don't blame him one bit for refusing the assistant manager's job though. I still think Keane is a better choice than Leo to be Woody's assistant, mind.

Woody and Keane both played together at Spurs, they're polar opposites of each other with regard to the positions they played in (so cover a broader spectrum of knowledge when it comes to tactics) and while it's only the Republic of Ireland, I believe that Keane has been assistant manager at a higher level than Leo.
