Boro v Birmingham (A) 1-2 (Wing, Assombalonga)

Recommended Posts

Can someone remind me why we're supposed to be positive about what this man is doing to our football team.

Every time you think he can't get more negative, he finds a way.

And before his fan club get upset - of course I still want us to win and hope that we do.

Wing at the tip of Besic and Clayton Howson RM Saville LM is pretty much what we did at Derby it kind of worked but that's because Derby's LB was an absolute mess who couldn't handle Howson and Besic running around him.

Trying to be positive... I do like the bench plenty of options especially FLETCHER.

Gary Monk will be happy seeing that Boro line up, Britt on the bench 5 goals in 5 games against Birmingham, horses for courses.

my problem with this is Besic will sit as deep as Clayton, he always seems to, and we need him playing further up the pitch. it's infuriating watching him stand 2 yards away from an already deep Clayton.

Wing I like a lot obviously and I think Saville has had a couple great games in a row so I'm hoping he keeps building on that.

that's about as positive as I can get though.

I'm off to see Notts County, 24th vs 21st in League 2 seemed more appealing than making the short trip over to Birmingham for me, and that line-up hasn't changed my mind. First time ever i'll be at another game when Boro are playing.

At least Fry and Wing are playing, but otherwise, that's not an impressive starting XI. I actually prefer the look of the bench.

Here we go again...

Do you think it’s a positive lineup?

I can't wait until we lose to lead a match thread that encompasses more of this pre-match vitriol. :)

Do you think I care what the line-up is before we've seen them play? Funny how people fought for that courtesy for other managers.

vitriol is a bit strong, more a sentiment of disappointed resignation I'd say.

what are people supposed to say if they don't like the line up!? This line up has FIVE central midfielders in it. FIVE.

you think that's acceptable and/or normal?

    • Bad day at the office. Don’t like these games when we are so open. Should have put it to bed in the first 20 minutes. Not impressed at all with blatant diving by Britt. If he practiced putting the ball in the net instead of trying to compete with Tom Daley we would have won the game today. I do think that fatigue played a part and think that he should rotate the players a bit more.
    • To be fair to him he hasn’t really had the chance to get a run of games together
    • Is anyone else a getting a bit puzzled by the Akpom signing? I thought when we brought him in he was supposed to offer something different, even an upgrade, on Britt and Fletch. He plays almost identical to those guys just worse! Did we really have no other options to blow 2-3m on??
    • I know you're being sarcastic but Johnson hasn't put a foot wrong for us in a while, and Morsy has largely been excellent for us. I don't think Tavernier should be dropped either though.
    • The are professional athletes who should be capable of playing twice weekly. We are no different then any other so please don’t make excuses when we have Robert’s sitting it out week in week out. The fact is m, people think we are better then we are and expectations are far to high.  I am not so worried about the points if you think we have maintained a point a game over the last 3 games.  I am worried we will not beat as many teams mid or lower I thought we would
