selections fans dont want?

we want wing in - starts

we want saville i - starts

we want fry to play - starts

we dont want downing in - on bench

we dont want ruddy in - not in squad

Not having 5 cms and a donkey up front would be nice

well they did it good for half of last game, I have no problems with 5 cms, we tend to play a lot better when we go narrow

fixed it for you.

More of the first half last week consistently please, that was good football.

Britt would get dominated by 3 big CB's, we need a physical presence upfront with our lack of width to stretch teams. Letting Saville, Howson and Wing pick up the scraps around the box is a better bet than just playing Britt because he's a little quicker than Hugill.

Until we have 2 fit wingers to carry the ball, we need the ball to stick upfront. It doesn't with Britt I'm afraid.

Man I don't know against Birmingham Hugill didn't do much holding up he did a lot of falling over (sorry 'getting fouled') and losing aerials but not a lot of holding up. It's just not worked for him that's why I'm not surprised we're hearing transfer rumours about strikers, if we score it's usually in spite of Hugill's involvement in the move not because of it he really is ineffective and I think Pulis sees it as well believe it or not.

At the Den our subs rescued us might be the case again if needed but I think that's a very strong bench with Fletcher/Britt/VLP plus Flint had a mare vs Millwall so I'm not too disappointed to see he doesn't start.

what wingers do you suggest we start? downing? or erm ah thats it. tav and chapman maybe?

so basically you want players in the squad to play that we dont have atm and are not happy about it. oh and britt to start.

Downing, tav, VLP to name three? Also not to start with our best striker on the bench

Hugill totally isolated so far

might as well just have this phrase copied so we can paste it into every game thread.

    • The first session today will just be about surviving. The Aussies get a new ball in 5 or so overs I think
    • Personally I would have liked to see Stokes score more last night, fully accept the circumstances, but if we are too passive and cautious this too can assist the Aussies. One thing for certain we can not rely on Butler getting runs if he comes in early today
    • We really need both stokes and root to get a century, not too confident with the rest of the batters left
    • Well very pleased to see England close the day on 156-3. Very controlled and patient batting for most of the day from Root and Denly have gotten us to this stage. Stokes in the last hour of the day came into bat at 5 in survival mode and made 2 runs (not out) off 50 balls. The first session of tomorrow's play will decide the outcome of this test match (and the Ashes). If Stokes and Root can survive the first 8 overs of play unscathed. At which point the new ball is available to Australia. They will then have to contend with the new ball and the threats that come with it. If they can get to lunch unscathed after the new ball I think that is when the test becomes ours to lose. At this stage I'd happily take England scoring 30 runs all session if it meant losing no wickets. It will also be England's highest ever run chase if we are successful.
    • Our problem has been that we just don't score goals, we've been amongst the lowest scorers in the championship both pre and post our 1 season recently in the PL. This season, although it's early on, seems to be going the same way. While Britt does get goals, he's not what you'd call prolific, we've been set up as a defensive team for a few years now through different managers and scoring has been an added bonus to not conceding goals.
