Boro V Newport County FA Cup 4th Round 1-1 (Ayala)

Recommended Posts

Mikel is at the ground with the squad

Any idea if we got International Clearance for him in time?

No idea but we'll find out in 45 minutes

In the video he's wearing a tracksuit, not a suit as the non-playing players normally do.

Not that it means anything, he might just warm up with the team even if he can't play

Would they have got him a suit in time?

It's on TV somewhere in the world, yeah. So I'd imagine there's decent streams available

All FA Cup games are streamed on ESPN+ in the states via match choice so there could/should be a stream from that again.

A lot of sales still on, the club could have got someone to nip down the town to get a cheap suit for him, or Primark.

Well he starts so cant be that unfit

Or he's decided Newport is a low enough team to risk it to find out how fit/unfit he is.

VLP started against Peterborough in semi similar situations.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Mikel withdrawn at the half like VLP was.

Happy with this line up, only thing is I'd of liked to see VLP start over Downing but overall it's a good 11

    • Ah she's on the radio mostly I think?  Sure I've heard her on Talksport before.
    • I'm a bit hesitant in how you're approaching that topic as I feel I know what you're getting at but not entirely sure. Feels like you're pulling the 'diversity for diversity's sake' line and I can't say I'm a fan of that thought process. Diversity is a good thing, without it you wouldn't be seeing the likes of Alex Scott showing up the BBC/BT old guard. Sometimes a different perspective is more valuable than just "who's got the most talent/experience", especially as this ends up in a vicious cycle of only providing opportunities to the same type of people and discourages people of different backgrounds from pursuing a similar career to one that is dominated by old white blokes. Someone has to take a chance on people of diverse backgrounds or you just end up with yet another generation of Hansen and Lawrensen. Not to mention that you seem to be suggesting she's just a randomer who the BBC have hired but she's been doing TV sports for 10 years. She seems to have the CV that backs up why she should be doing live TV sports so why the issue?
