Boro v Nottingham Forest (a) 0-3

Recommended Posts

Don't know what to make of this game to be honest, our track record at Forest is nothing to shout about and with their recent form and us as the visitors to me spends an end to that loosing feeling so to me a draw will be on the cards, probably spelling an end to any lingering hope that we could repair to a degree our own loosing run.

We simply can not go behind that is certain due to our failure to win a game where the opposition has scored first

Might actually start to get excited again if we win today as we might somehow sneak into the playoffs with a bit of winning momentum (albeit still playing pretty rubbish). Still not a chance we’ll go up mind.

REST! The team is hardly mobile so why would they need to rest with a few games to go. On another note I don’t think we can repeat scoring 2 mins in, out played but winning.

Also worth keeping an eye on Reading and Rotherham as they are our last two games. Ideally we want Reading to be safe and Rotherham to have been relegated by then, so neither have anything to play for. Won't be great if Rotherham are playing for their Championship lives on the last day.

Tbh, I'd maybe prefer to play a Rotherham with a load of pressure on them rather than a Rotherham that can play with more freedom than they've had for a long time and have a chance to enjoy their football.... see a lot of upsets from recently relegated teams.

Superb again BU.

In a time where some fans (including mayself) haven't been bothered one little bit if we lose as it's a step closer to a new beginning, you are becoming the reason fans want us to win, just for another instalment of the pulis-files (audio version).

Any manager that loses 4 in a row should surely be sacked though !!!

Only want to make the playoffs so we get an extra home game, we have as much chance of getting promoted as getting a Brexit deal

Very happy that Britt and Fletcher get all these games together as I don’t think we will get good enough offers to part with Britt in the summer. Would like them to be our striker partnership next season with two decent wingers and Wing and Howson central. Hugill on the bench for every game suggests that we have realized he adds nothing and will go back to West Ham.

[8am ] Alarm goes off, mental reminder pops up about it being matchday, shrug shoulders and dismiss it as irrelevant

[12pm] Absolutely not looking at watch thinking 'only three hours til kick-off, and I hope Britt doesn't try too hard against his former club'

[1pm] Whispers 'I don't care, I don't care, I don't care'

[2pm] Checks team, discovers Gestede is on the bench, whispers 'I really don't care, we wouldn't go up in the play-offs anyway'

[3pm] Puts 5 Live on with a curious mentality of partly wanting to lose so the play-offs are mathematically impossible and that baseball-capped f**kwit finally gets told to do one, and partly wanting to win so we can stage the most unlikely resurrection since that bloke in the cave all those years ago.

    • People always have to whinge, don't they? Unbeaten in 7, haven't conceded a goal from open play all season, we look a proper unit and there's a real togetherness in the squad for the first time in 4-5 years. Actually guys, instead of looking to the positives, lets try and tear down a young right back starting his first full season, or, how about we have a go at Assombalonga for not playing his best in a role unsuited to him? Get a grip and enjoy the team doing well for a change.
    • I'm not comparing us to last season though.  I don't quite understand why everyone is? Last season was an anomaly, caused by us appointing someone to the manager's job that had no business being there.  The two seasons before that we finished 5th and 7th and the bulk of this squad is still those players - Fry, Howson, Saville, McNair, Wing, Tavernier, Wing, Assombalonga, Fletcher, Johnson.  Dijksteel looks more than capable so far, Morsy looks like a good solid Championship player, and the same can be said for the likes of Hall, Akpom and Bettenelli.  We aren't the plucky underdogs in this league, the likes of Coventry and Wycombe are, so why act like it, unless it's to try and make things feel better? As we've discussed plenty of times, it's not a choice between points and entertainment.  Other clubs manage both, but some Boro fans seem to have convinced themselves that you have to decide between one and the other. Having said that, my opinion is already known so I should shut up about it, as nothing is going to change, and believe it or not, I don't want to be a downer for other people.  So I will button it on that subject from now on.
    • He hasnt played a decent game this season. But then again heade a few good tackles late on when he was playing deeper. So maybe he would be better in a 4. Not seen much from him going forward
    • Wouldn't say he was plodding tbf, he'd actually be a decent signing just not at the expense of McNair
    • He showed so much quickness and pace from that position that I think most felt he could naturally move up the field into an advanced role.  Maybe his talents are just suited to the back half of the pitch for now. Work on his defensive positioning. There is a place for a RB with with pace and quickness who can advance the ball.
