He only played because Pulis saw him as versatile.. right back, left back.. I like him but 20mil is 20mil.

Other than a short period in September/October when Pulis put him on the bench, Fry played pretty much every game until the last few when he was injured.  Coincidentally, our other two young players also took a break around that time after starting the season although their breaks were a lot longer than Fry's.

Ayala isn't the same player he was 4 years ago and performs short of that level.  Flint is no more than a big ok defender at this level who is supposedly dangerous from set pieces.  I'd have picked Fry ahead of either of them last season.  He even managed to be a better right back than Shotton was.  £20m is £20m and if that's what they end up offering then no doubt we will accept but we'll have a worse squad without him in it.

SDS, it’s Dijksteel at Rockliffe

For all those asking about these 4 players at rockcliffe just before weekend. I have done some digging appears it was bola Browne and 2 premiership loan players, sketchy with details but I believe the

West Ham have tonight sold Sam Byram to an unnamed Championship club for £750k! It’s very unlikely it’ll be us but what an absolute bargain at that price.

I think it's Forest.

I mentioned Byram a few weeks ago. He was on loan with them last season and there have been strong rumours since his loan ended about him heading back. For £750K that is a great bit of business! Shame we are skint at the moment otherwise we should be all over that!

Maybe Woodgate has decided Howson, Shotton and Spence are cover enough at Right back? Likewise on the left Friend, Coulson and Reading. He did say he would play young players if he felt they were good enough.

Could well be. Plus West Ham have been active in bringing in players this summer, so he may be part of a fringe group of players making way.

Yeah could be clearing some space on their wage bill quite possibly.

Saw on twitter he was apparently on 25k so yeah, may well just be cutting their losses on that.

Probably out of our reach then right at this moment in time although I think the club have got to be focusing on other positions anyway ?

Fry might have no interest in leaving but he might not have a choice if we accept a bid. Might reconsider then.

As for Howson at RB. This might not be view shared by my fellow boro fans but i liked Howson at RB. He got up and down that flank very wel, his delivery was better than Shottons from there. He scored and got assists from that position. And i think he said he enjoyed playing there and will getter better more he plays there.

Would prefer someone specialist there but if needs must am happy with him there.

Oh it looks like am not alone in being ok with Howson at RB. Thanks for not leaving me isolated boys&girls and showing me support. Thought l I would be like a striker in a pulis team with that view.....alone.

He was a little exposed yesterday, mainly because of a lack of positional sense from Tav. Better teams will punish us if that is going to be the right side. I suppose the circumstances we find ourselves in we are probably have to use what resources we have as best we can. Looking forward though I believe all 3 of our current right back options are all out of contract after this season so unless Spence comes up trumps we will probably look at a genuine Right back next year.

Seem that Huddersfield have loaned Grabara from Liverpool. I was hoping he would be our replacement for Randolph if we end up selling him. The lad has got unreal potential. Think he’s going to be next seasons keeper of the season in the championship.
