hopefully he starts bagging a few and ends up brimming with confidence and scores loads. but i doubt he will, he'll do the usual, miss a few and his head will drop and we'll not see him for a few months. before he starts scoring regular again.

You're basing this on 18 months of Tony pulis. Where we had very little attacking intent and relied on very few chances to get results. Not to mention he was constantly getting chastised by pulis in the media and getting dropped. Woody believes in him it will be refreshing to see the improvement.

O'Rourke's track record with us has been very good this summer I'd rather Taylor than Toney.

£3m for a 30 year old 1 in 4 league one striker, I can't see us being that interested

Is a nice relatively cheap backup to sit on the bench if Britt does get a injury thought

I struggle to see why Brentford want him, 30 next year and unproven in the championship

I struggle to see why we want him!

Do we have our own scouts anymore or do we just bid for whoever Brentford bids for? ?

Imagine we could flog them Gestede and Shotton as part of the deal. Probably save about £50k on wages

£3m isn't cheap to us anymore, rather look for a young kid from league 2 or loan a prem youngster as back up if Gestede goes

If we have £3m it surely has to go on RW

Football insider claiming we want to hijack the Lyle Taylor deal. I can almost guarantee this isn’t true as I can’t imagine we would want to deal with Charlton anymore than we already have ?

Maybe once you start dealings with the Addicks, you become Addicted. ?

It’s what villa did to us last summer and it worked for them. ?

Indeed, we sold Braithwaite who's a full international with experience in major leagues for £5m, doesn't seem like great business for us this...

@Smoggydownsouth

Any news you can share with us mate?  Not about transfers, I'm just interested in how your finance meeting is progressing.

Yes mate our forecast shows we are on course to have around a 15% profit. I have asked if we can reinvest into playing staff... sorry mean staff.

    • The preparation for a specific match is probably a bit more important than we think. That is also what separates the good managers from the bad. The ability to drill into the team how to beat an upcoming opponent. We were woefully prepared under Woodgate and that has changed dramatically under a more proven manager. Granted he also gets outsmarted or gets his tactics all wrong, but I'm not going to deny that a lack of proper preparation with the team had an adverse effect on how we dealt with Birmingham. It was a woeful performance though so I'm going to split it 50/50 between inconsitency and lack of preparation.
    • we are inconsistent but we have Big J back in midfield.  first game back and it was like he never went away motm by a mile. when some of the younger lads are struggling to pass 5 yards he gets the ball and slips his markers carries the ball miles, plays in key passes making it look easy. he surely has lifted squad coming back into the team.  results will improve now. wouldnt be surprised to go on another winning run now. think we'll beat norwich to. they rode their luck last time out. we'll have them this time. blackburn have fell away we can win that one to.
    • Need to get back to winning ways at home so massive game and certainly no sentiments for former Boro associates. We are hot and cold with results so need to be hot, hot, hot again!
    • Agree with Sandy..  we are inconsistent but some of that is relative inexperience and hopefully that will decrease. Hopefully we can get a few more U23's out on loan to push them on a bit and fill the squad up for next year..  we have the makings of a good team and if we can get the final pieces of the jigsaw, then we will be there or thereabouts . Would also like to mention that discipline seems to have improved significantly, halfway through season and only one red card, which was rightly overturned and most of the yellows were for "proper" fouls rather than dissent or other daft stuff..  Sam will always be Sam but having watched Souness, Kennedy, Glover, Hammy, Boam and other nasty boys, he is very mild compared to them and I think all good teams have someone like him, so I think it should be acknowledged he is the best Egyptian we've had
