Gazette not outright dismissing Lyle Taylor might confirm an interest there we assume Gestede replacement but we'd still lack that raw pace option up front if Taylor was all we brought in.

As Roy Hodgson gets more desperate for a striker in the next 48 hours will he turn to Britt? That's my only concern he's bidding 14 million for a Russian striker when does Roy give up and turn to domestic targets I know he wants Watkins but you never know.

Maybe Brentford have put a late bid in for him.

You are the most jittery person I've seen on here ?

It's done, sit back and relax

Probably wait till tonight or tomorrow, so if we only sign two more players between now and the window closing it doesn't look as bad. Are we still confident of getting the four players in? @Smoggydownsouth

It is a silly way to spell Anthony, mind.

Yes possibly 1 or 2 more if players leave

Personally I don’t think Derby or other clubs doing anything wrong with their business models and oblique internal sales. I blame the EFL who make rules, but then when forced to enforce them interpret them in such a way that it would be clearer and simpler not to have the rules anyway.

imo nothing worse than having a good rule then having it interpreted and enforced by those that don’t and won’t.

I often think the whole "if you can't beat them, join them" on the Stadium sale loophole , but as you only really get 1 go at it the timing needs to be right.

If I understand correctly the FFP measurement is based on the most recent 3 seasons. Looking at our last 3 seasons where 2 of which included parachute payments, I would suggest we are compliant.  I've nerded a bit and reckon playing this trump card (if needed) wouldn't be until the 2021/22 season (provided we've not secured promotion beforehand).   But I would guess by that time the EFL would have closed such loopholes with rule amendments.

Just thinking out loud.

What?!? So, maybe another one or two on top of the four we want, if more players go out the club?

Are we really now panicking that Assombalonga must be leaving based purely on him he not training for one day? surely there are a multitude of reasons to explain that before a transfer

Reason to be sceptical on that Lyle Taylor story could be who his agent is...

Does it happen to be featherstone?

    • "advisory capacity (Jepson and Blackwell anyone?"  This is actually what I think will happen.  OK - I'll say non-british manager. Hope I am wrong, just don't think he will after AK/Orta etc... Which I agree was a success in my opinion and I wish he hadn't ripped it all up after AK left.
    • I think you have nailed it billy. If Warnock chooses not to stay on as manager I think he will be replaced by Blackwell and Jepson. It’s sticking out to me anyway
    • I like it @DurhamRed nothing like a bit of positivity on a Tuesday morning. Come on Boro let’s get a nice big win tonight
    • I think Gibson is happy to stick with Warnock and the only reason that he’ll be looking for a new manager is if Warnock decides to either leave or stay in an advisory capacity (Jepson and Blackwell anyone?) I think it’s unfair on Gibson to say he’d never employ a foreign manager, I don’t think he’s that narrow minded and you could hardly call Karanka’s tenure here a failure.  On that basis are we assuming he’ll never employ another Scottish manager after the Strachan fiasco? “Foreign” is a catch all slightly xenophobic term, maybe Gibbo wouldn’t employ a feisty Latino manager  from Spain, Italy, Portugal or South America, but what's to say he wouldn’t employ a methodical German a progressive Scandinavian manager or a tactical Dutchman?
    • I think football will be in a state of flux for the next couple of seasons. Brexit could change the market completely for English clubs. There will be alot of out of work footballers out there and NW seems pretty good at persuading people to come play for him. I'd be happy with Warnock to steer us through for the next 2 years, then when things return to normal we need to look at a long term plan.  I think he will stay with the aim of getting us promoted, if he can, then defining that plan may be easier with a few quid behind us.  If he does leave, with the squad we have now I think we would need another experienced head. I doubt Gibson will go foreign again so Howe or Cook for me.  If he goes with a rookie again, I can see him going for John Terry. If he does go rookie, he needs an old head as number 2.
