Summer Transfer Window 2019/20 Season

Recommended Posts

Eze too expensive and not for sale, if we have to sell Fry then not one bit of that money should be spent on a player we would have to pay a massive premium to get.

Saville was badly used by pulis last season and took time to move and settle, but is better than a few names I hear being used in his favoured position. Sadly Saville not first choice in his best role so has to play a different one.

Trouble with Saville is, not only is he trash, him being around the squad is kinda holding back Tav and the likes of Malley too.

Trash? Jesus, you might not like the lad but that's ridiculous

I don't think he has delivered what we expected, however in mitigation he was used all over the place by Pulis and there are rumours he is homesick. Sometimes moves just don't work out.

Most sensible post I have read regarding Saville, hes not the awful player hes made out to be. We paid too much and it hasn't worked out as of yet but he doesn't deserve abuse and he isn't a bad player

Football fans are pretty prone to hyperbole and snap judgments to be fair, you're only as good as your last 5 games in Football.

Tav would be better going out on loan for a season, he won’t be first choice and it will do his development good to play matches against players not in U23 teams or sitting on a bench.

saville is a more experienced, multi positional player that for this season is an asset to the squad, selling him would be unwise until we got someone else in that could do that job and Tav isn’t that player yet imo.

That's true but has Saville ever actually been awful for us, hes been fairly average but there is a large distinction between that and trash. He was our top scoring midfielder last year too, so how bad are our other midfielders if Sav is 'trash'?

I don't think saville is all that bad, played out of position for the best part of the season, looked fairly dangerous around the oppositions box. As others have eluded to I just think we overpayed for him.

But as it stands he along with gestede are the players we should be looking to move on, rather than britt and fry. But you can only sell the players that teams want to buy.

So if we do sell britt or fry I hope its for an offer too good to turn down.

Don't get the love in for Tav personally, most of the time I've seen him he looks bang average and fades in games. I appreciate he's young but he shouldn't be the first name on the team sheet like many fans seem to suggest.

Saville hasn't settled as many have suggested, very lightweight midfielder and probably better suited elsewhere.

About the Eze stuff, have we actually been properly linked with him or was it just FMTTM rumours?

Taking any kind of significant loss on Saville this summer feels like a huge mess. I think he's a good player who will score goals in our midfield. We've already invested the money, I think we should see it out for a bit longer. He's surely not going to drop much more in value. If we've offered him a daft bloody contract then God knows what we were thinking and maybe we have to get rid of him. But I'd be looking to keep otherwise for sure.

We still expecting 4 in? Or was Dijksteel one of those?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think 4 expected was confirmed before Dijksteel and so he is one of the 4.

With the current situation (no exits) the aim is to get 3 more in.  CB, RW, ST

Echo say we're targeting a 'couple' of new attacking options now Dijksteel's done so I'm assuming a wide midfielder and a striker?

They say Wes Burns is not on the list of targets so I wonder who we are after for the wing.

    • 1: Team and formation? Same same. Can't change after such a showing. I'd like to see Tav central with Johnson on the wing but I can't drop any of Sav, Morsy and Howson after wednesday. 2: Is it good to change a winning team? Depends on circumstances but generally no. 3: Will Morsy get another yellow card for just being Morsy? Think he will give it a bit of a rest and avoid a card. 4: Can Britt follow up on an above par performance? Yes. He'll bag a brace. 5: Is Saville finally going to be what we bought him for.. A goal contributer? 4 goals and 4 assists so far... It's certainly looking better now. 6: Iron Maiden or Def Leppard? Not even a contest. Maiden all the way. 7: Our last handful of games this season are easy on paper .. If we keep within reach of the play off spots .. Can we push for it in the last 8-10 games? I think we can, but I'm afraid we'll just miss out. 8: Who is this mystery signing (winger who can play as a striker)? No idea. But my guess is Kebano.
    • The preparation for a specific match is probably a bit more important than we think. That is also what separates the good managers from the bad. The ability to drill into the team how to beat an upcoming opponent. We were woefully prepared under Woodgate and that has changed dramatically under a more proven manager. Granted he also gets outsmarted or gets his tactics all wrong, but I'm not going to deny that a lack of proper preparation with the team had an adverse effect on how we dealt with Birmingham. It was a woeful performance though so I'm going to split it 50/50 between inconsitency and lack of preparation.
    • we are inconsistent but we have Big J back in midfield.  first game back and it was like he never went away motm by a mile. when some of the younger lads are struggling to pass 5 yards he gets the ball and slips his markers carries the ball miles, plays in key passes making it look easy. he surely has lifted squad coming back into the team.  results will improve now. wouldnt be surprised to go on another winning run now. think we'll beat norwich to. they rode their luck last time out. we'll have them this time. blackburn have fell away we can win that one to.
    • Need to get back to winning ways at home so massive game and certainly no sentiments for former Boro associates. We are hot and cold with results so need to be hot, hot, hot again!
