Wing's corners were largely awful last season, after the first few games. But given that everyone else had the same issue, hopefully that was more to do with Pulis than the player.

You could see Wing has been practising the Adama corner, once he came on at the weekend.

Whipped with pace to the back edge of the 6yard box

Luton have signed two recent Boro players during the last month  so we could be up against them ....Butterfield and Crainie.

Ah butterfield, there's a name I completely forgot about! Seemed a very promising player until he actually played for us. I think we even made a profit on him?

I guess Clayton has had his shooting/scoring ironed out of his game during his time at Boro. I'd love to see him get on the score sheet again this season though! As Wilson says, would be harsh to drop him, given his pre-season.

I was chatting to a mate who is a Luton fan. He was talking about being 3-0 down after 14 minutes against Norwich last week. He reckons they are dodgy at the back, and seems pretty sure they will concede. Hopefully we can manage to concede less than they do..... but 2-2 I reckon!

Didn't Luton lose a few of their best players on getting promoted?

Yes they did. Including both of their fullbacks who were integral to the way they set up to play, exactly like the way we are going to try and play from now on. I think they will be a big loss to Luton.

Stacey was sold to Bournemouth and was a vital part of thier set up as Blanco said. wierd thing is we could have had him for 500k two seasons ago but didnt persue it at the time . Now were desperate for the same type of player.

Prediction time. How many times are we going to be called ‘jonathan Woodgate’s middlesbrough side’ Friday?

My guess is 15 times. And that’s before the game starts

Both have gone to Premier league clubs too. Justin to Leicester and Stacey to Bournemouth. As others have mentioned Luton's play was geared towards those two bombing forward to provide width.

Think they will come out an attack us from the off. Which could play into our hands.

What else shall we put on the Bingo card? A few things about Pulis, I imagine.

'He might have been part of Pulis' regime but...'

'This isn't a Pulis team anymore'

'Assombalonga will have more support than in a Pulis team'

One for the season. If we are struggling to score and a camera shot of Robbie Keane

"They could do with someone like him in their team now"

If this happens less than 20 times I'll be gobsmacked.

    • Annoyingly it's a mix of both of those first sentences you've written. The Government have gotten as much right as they have wrong, and at the same time some portions of the public do need to shoulder some of the blame. It goes hand in hand.
    • 😬 I don't mean to tar you with a brush here AR but: a) NB4 hasn't said anything about being a Labour supporter (and in fact, just above has dismissed such thoughts) b) Discussing a frivolous spend on something unnecessary is not 'Labour-tinted' and only makes you sound like you take a tribal stance against a political party In my opinion, the repainted plane served no purpose whatsoever and it 100% was done to 'better represent us globally', so it is as NB4 said, it was ego-driven, to make us look good. There are plenty of better ways to represent yourself as a country globally than a repainted plane. It's neither left, right nor centre to say that £900k of paint was a dumb idea executed during a time people were sat at home living off state-funded furlough schemes, wondering whether they'll be let go at any point soon.
    • It’s ok, we haven’t finished discussing wingbacks yet👌
    • I’m certainly not knocking the government for the support schemes, I’ve benefitted myself from the self employed grant, I’m just hoping that it will be continued as I’ve done just eight days work since lockdown.    My argument is, if governments can find money to fight unnecessary wars (the two listed above in particular) it can find the resources to keep the economy going.  I’m neither a Tory or Labour voter, but I do think the Tories acted too slowly and that the Labour Party have been ineffective in opposition, although I think part of the reason for that is that Labour don’t want to oppose the measures too strongly for fear of splitting opinion and causing disruption amongst the general public.    As for football league clubs, it’s not their fault, but the fact that mediocre players are earning more in a week than the PM earns in a year does lead me to question the way clubs are run financially. In a lot of cases it’s all a massive gamble to get promoted and as my old man used to say if you gamble, you have to be prepared to lose.
    • So its okay to spend a million quid on something completely non essential and ego driven in the middle of a global pandemic leading to a global economic crisis? And then call it dumb to criticise it?  To be honest I could spend all day listing the ways in which this government (which has been picked by boris on the basis of brexit support rather than any form of competence) has failed its people, but i learned a long time ago that facts mean nothing to people when it comes to this stuff, its all tribal.  For the record, I do not support Labour, or any British party. Id like us the hell out of the "Union". But thats a whole other topic that I'm really not getting into on a boro forum!
