Boro v Luton Town (A) 3-3 (Fletcher, Assombalonga, Wing)

Recommended Posts

Fancy us tomorrow. Think it'll be 2-0/3-1 sorta scoreline. Mentioned the lineup I expect earlier in the thread and I'll stick to that.

Fullbacks are a big loss to Luton I think

Settle down children and I'll begin...

Twas the night before Luton, when all through the house,

Not a creature was stirring, not even a Mejias.

A blank kit was packed by the kit man with care,

In the hopes that Anfernee Dijksteel would soon be there.

The players were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of promotion danced in their heads.

And Woody in his suit, instead of Pulis in his cap,

Had given us hope that we wouldn't play crap.

But out on the pitch surrounded by noise,

Woody sprang from the dugout to encourage the boys.

Away to the Hatters was a tricky beginning,

If we wanna go up, this is one we should be winning.

Now Howson!  Now Wing!  Now Britt and McNair,

On Brown, On Bola, not you Rudy, you just sit there.

The fans sprang to their feet, as the ref blew his whistle,

Wing had just scored with a shot like a missile.

Wouldn't that be such a wonderful sight,

Happy new season to all, and to all a good-night.

It's game day, I'm in the states on the west coast for work, cannot wait! Unfortunately it's unlikely I'll be able to watch as it's around midday when the game kicks off but I'll be following on the gazette updates and here.

Feeling optimistic about today's result and going for a 5-0 win, with Assombalonga hat-trick

Please follow Red Rocket on the oneBoro Twitter takeover covering the whole day from travelling down from Boro, build up and meet up with fellow oneBoro members and of course the game it 'self.

It may go quiet after the game but we will wait and see.

So happy that I get to go and will publicly thank Familyboro for his assistance.

Feels like its been a long break from football this summer... Boro kicking the whole thing off on a Friday night too - what a start to the weekend!

Very jealous of those with tickets - enjoy!

C'mon Boro be fantastic to put on a good show in front of the Sky cameras and to get Woody off to a flying start.

    • I don't even blame the majority of the people getting on the trains because most of them will be key workers. However, if we can't manage the situation better then the tube would be better off just being closed, doctors and nurses could be put up in hotels close to their place of work or taxis should be laid on.  A packed tube will be like an incubator for the virus and the situation surely can't carry on like this. Another point is that apparently the construction sites are still supposed to be working as normal in London which will also add to the passenger numbers on public transport. Why aren't the government clamping down on the construction industry?  I'm glad to have lived in a society where we have a lot of freedom but in the current situation I think the government needs to exert more control especially in London.
    • I mean, it was a stupid ass decision to reduce the number of services in the hope it would reduce the number of people per tube. Khan is saying drivers are self-isolating or are ill themselves. Obviously the latter is unavoidable but given the scale of the tube usage, surely tube drivers should be considered key workers too? How many of them will be in self-enforced isolation who could feasibly be working? Though I'm willing to bet it's not just key workers who are using them and perhaps an alternative is to start ensuring valid reasons for travel instead of just letting anyone use them. There's potential problems with all of the solutions but the main problem as ever is the people who use them. I lived there, anyone else who has or does and has dealt with the Central Line for a short period of time, never mind the 3 years I did, will know it feels like 90% of the people going to work in the capital every day felt they were more important and more significant to the world than the people around them, the very peak of the capitalist society we live in where some people would step on their dead grandmother for an extra few bob. It gets in your bones too, it's almost beyond your control to be the same as them because you know as soon as you hold open a metaphorical door for the more vulnerable, those who are perfectly fine will capitalise on your good gesture and will never give you credit for your good deed. This virus has levelled the playing field significantly in that we are reminded about how individually, we are all important and all our individual decisions can impact so many other people. The maths is simple. If you can feasibly do so, staying at home is going to be hugely positive in delaying the spread of this virus. It's important that those of us who can, do so, in order to allow those who can't to be less at risk.
    • It's sounding most likely that the season will be completed in June/July behind closed doors.
    • We would even settle for you up front Alan with Teddy as your support striker 😂
