Boro v Brentford 0-1

Recommended Posts

I just hope despite a lot of movement that we're able to field a similar team, one that's gone through the pre-season and isn't destabilised by the late window business. I'd still keep Howson in the team for this one at RB despite signing Dijksteel now.

Introduction.  Welcome to BearSmog's first matchday thread of the 2019/2020 Championship season. I must warn you, if you are not a fan of GIFs I recommend you look away now, the opening post of t

Well talk about a day that had so much mixed emotions for a 6 year old lad attending his first Boro game. Whilst his dad waited to pay for the tickets I took Teddy into the club shop coming out £

Ok so before this game I genuinely thought we'd lose or draw which goes against our historically good home record and Brentford's awful away record but we did perform better than I thought we would.

Howson stays in for this week for me as well, Dijksteel coming in too late to start for me maybe some minutes later on in the game for him.

I think i’d keep it similar to the Luton line up - one change I might go for is Bola for Fletcher. Harsh to drop him after scoring, but I’d prefer to see Coulson further up the pitch and Bola in at left back.

The rest I would leave the same, unless Fry or Friend is fit enough to start over Shotton.

Obviously, if anyone leaves then it might force a change.

I also think this is a tough game, Brentford are always a tricky side to play as they have some real talent going forward. I think we can win it, but wouldn’t be unhappy with a draw. Still need to give this new style some time to bed in!

Losing Sawyers and Maupay is a huge dent to their attack and it's probably too early for the new additions to make an impact as we saw in the first game. It's a good time to play them in my eyes.

They could very well lose Benrahma to Villa before Thursday aswell, it looks like they might manage to hold onto Watkins but losing the other 3 could blunt their attacking prowess considerably until the new boys settle in.

Unfortunately whenever I think it's a good time to play a team we always end up losing ?

It’s probably a good time to play boro too so that evens things out.

I reckon it'll be a good game but we'll get beat 3-1, come slightly too early for us Brentford I fear as we need a bit more time to improve defensively

I'd like to see

-----------------Randolph

Dijksteel--Ayala--Friend--Coulson

--------Wing--Clayton--Howson

Browne---------Britt---------Fletcher

But imagine that Howson will be RB with McNair in the middle, I'm happy for McNair to play midfield but think we need a specialist Right Back vs Brentford's wingers so would rather Dijksteel come straight in for us

Woody'll probably have Johnson starting too

When is Fry back?
