Boro v Brentford 0-1

Recommended Posts

I can't really see it, Will. It happens really quick and the angle from behind the goal doesn't help. That one makes it look like he's headed it in but it could be something else quite easily as Fletcher is almost entirely behind him.

Literally just watched the highlights back on the Sky site and disappointed they've not got the offside one in there too. Hopefully shows on our highlights tomorrow along with a better angle of the first one. Doubtful on the latter though, I guess.

Will say for their goal though, Canos definitely did a number on us. Just as much down to how we try to win the ball back though. Shotton is trying to steal it from him, if he stands his ground he at least pulls him down. Same with Ayala, could have wiped him out but just steams in without much thought. Credit to Canos where it's due as well, though.

With them both out the game, they had a man over. Howson went the wrong way and tried to block the cut back, Canos passed it the other way. If Howson stood his ground, he'd have been in a position to clear the cross. Difficult to blame him, he had two to cover.

Introduction.  Welcome to BearSmog's first matchday thread of the 2019/2020 Championship season. I must warn you, if you are not a fan of GIFs I recommend you look away now, the opening post of t

Well talk about a day that had so much mixed emotions for a 6 year old lad attending his first Boro game. Whilst his dad waited to pay for the tickets I took Teddy into the club shop coming out £

Ok so before this game I genuinely thought we'd lose or draw which goes against our historically good home record and Brentford's awful away record but we did perform better than I thought we would.

Lads come on, no one wants to see a slanging match on the forum, especially not after we've lost a game as well. As others have said, let's move on and let the actions that are happening be sorted out.

It hits the Brentford defender own goal then the offside one he's clearly onside

Watch the video Brunners posted closely, it doesn’t look like it reaches the players head to me. Maybe I’m wrong but I think it may have actually been the right decision.

The first one the referee has told Woodgate was disallowed for handball. The second one was disallowed for offside.

OK thanks, I'll take a look - in real time they looked like ligitamate goals (I always think that though)

No, I mean he looks like he tries to head it but he doesn't.  As if he was thinking of doing it but couldn't if that makes sense and then after that it looks like it might hit Fletcher's hand.  I assume that's what the lino has seen anyway and what you are talking about?

Yes, think it may have been the right decision in the end.

I'm reluctant to watch any videos Brunners posts given the current conversation ?

Here you go, hopefully the highlights tonight have some other angles.

It isn't. It doesn't touch Fletcher, it goes in off the upper chest / shoulder of the defender.

Not convinced, the video from that angle doesn’t look like it ever reached the defender to me.

And youre saying the handball was the correct decision or he handled it in the offside call?

Just asking btw as I've not seen highlights.

I watched it live mate and that just happens to be the worst angle, the boro stream feed had 4 different angles and it was so obvious Fletcher didn't handball it.

I think the handball looks like it was the correct decision from that angle

Am I the only one who thinks the ball actually did come off Fletchers hand in that clip? Watch it closely and I’m sure it actually does hit his hand.

I thought Fletcher handled it as well from the angle I seen.

I see what you mean now, @Will. I managed to watch that frame by frame and indeed, it doesn't look like it touches the player's head. Between three frames of the video, I can see it not having reached the defender's head. In the next frame, the ball is travelling in the other direction and Fletcher's hand definitely comes into view the frame after that. It's still tough to call from that angle because Fletcher's behind the defender. But yeah, see what you mean.
