Denzel Zanzibar 6,972
Was at the last game at Ayresome Park (Pears' testimonial) and the first game at the Riverside. I remember going to the visitor's centre multiple times over the summer worrying it wouldn't be ready and it very nearly wasn't!
sanddancer 1,967
I fondly remember those days. I can still remember the chants of boring, boring BORO when we smashed the promotion points total. Still stands today I believe as it was 2 points for a win.
Downsouth 6,327
The anticipation for this game was felt all over the world for Boro supporters and we were not disappointed!
sanddancer 1,967
Does anyone ember the cockerel being thrown on Ayresome park pitch. It happened at a few away games too. My best memorial grounds Southampton what a great day out with thousands playing football in the parks. Hated going to Millwall and Fulham and cried like a baby at Wolves when they knocked us out the FA cup. BORO were doing well until Terry Cochrane was taking off apparently because once again he had his socks down. Known Terry for many years drank, played and drove him in his Volvo to the BONGO on many occasions. He hated playing with his socks up and shin pads on and was fined many times but by then I believe it was law.

Erimus74 3,072
Boro flashback - 6th September 1983 During the very dark days following the Boro back then there wernt many good memorable days, or nights, but this certainly is one memorable night Boro manager, Malcolm Allison, was hopefully, starting to put together a team that could sustain a top half position, maybe challenge the chasing pack for promotion The Boro had enjoyed a good start to the season wining away to Pompey on the opening day of the season & drawing the only home game so far on the previous saturday v Leeds with 2 goals from Dave Currie, this game will stay in my memory forever, Boro 3 Newcastle 2, a great night, a great win, a great opener from Dave Currie, who later added a 2nd & a fantatsic winner from 18 years Gary Hamilton at the holgate end Boro scored, Newcastle equalised, Boro scored, Newcastle equalised via Dave Mills, then bang, in the closing minutes, the ball falls to 18 year old Gary Hamilton in the box & bang, gooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllll, the balls in the back of the holgate ent Gary runs over to us in the south terrace, never forget his reaction, absolutly brilliant, that nights emotions is what been a Boro fan is all about Shame Dave Currie couldnt have kicked on, 86 all the young local lads who will be remebered for ever & rightly so, it would have been nice a Stockton lad been there involved The entire east end went silent Boro team Kelham O'Hanlon Darren Wood Paul Ward Heien Otto Mick Baxter Irvine Nattrass - Played every single game that season Alan Roberts Mick Kennedy - RIP Mick, 2nd Boro game Dave Currie - England calling, Paul Sugrue Gary Macdonald Sub Gary Hamilton UTMB - erimus 1
Erimus74 3,072
Boro flashback this day, 8th September 1984 Boro's 3rd game of the campaign & 2nd away game, similar to last season the Boro have started the season badly, losing the opening fixture away to Portsmouth 1-0, but worse, much worse, losing our only home game so far, no getting smashed 5-1at Ayresome Park by Grimsby Town This day we travelled to Notts County who had lost 4 straight defeats, in a worse turmoil than the Boro We'll if Boro thought this would be easier than the previous 2 they were in for a rude awakening when after 15 minutes Notts County took the lead & stayed that way at HT When the 2nd half kicked off Boro had a bit more about them & took the lead when Heine Otto equalised for his 1st goal of the season & not long after David Mills scored his 1st goal since his return to the Boro, now we need calm heads & see this game out, unfortunately, rock bottom Notts County had other ideas & scored two goals to take the lead & points Willie Maddren, must have been pulling his hair out watching everything collapse before him Boro team Kelham O'Hanlon Darren Wood Geoff Scott - Last of 2 games, his contract was cancelled Mick Buckley Tony Mowbray - Made his debut exactly 24 months earlier Irvine Nattrass David Mills Gary Hamikton Heine Otto Paul Sugrue Dave Currie Sub Alan Roberts Edited September 8, 2019 by Erimus74
