Flashback/On this Day Erimus74 & McMordie

Recommended Posts

Tony Mogga Mowbray, Boro legend captain & manager made his debut this day 1982, along with Paul Ward & given instructions, follow Kevin Keegan all over the pitch, even in to their dressing room if you must

A debut to a great Boro career & a massive task for such a young lad, but looking back it's what Mogga thrived on

For the record, Mick Channon scored his one & only Newcastle goal that night on the 56th minute, Darren Wood equalised on the 67th minute, the final score 1-1

Where do you get all the info and picture's from Erimus?  amazing stuff you should write a book on the history of MFC, I would but it for sure. I find this really interesting, I like to find out about the history of our club, your posts are superb.

I have a book at home that tells the stories of some former players, starts with the keepers, defense, midfield and then strikers, it's a good read.

Good to see you posting elsewhere E74,I've pretty much stopped reading and posting(occasionally) on fmttm, due to the rabid  pro EU posters spoiling the site and Rob only(seemingly) banning  the posters that disagree with the boards left wing clique!

This day, 13th September 1986, seen the Boro travel to Gillingham for a third division clash, our 2nd away fixture so far

The 3 previous league games have resulted in 2 wins & a draw, even more remarkable when you consider we had no preseason training, all the teams we faced had a full preseason fixture of friendlies

This game brought two ex Boro favourites playing against the Boro in Dave Shearer & Terry Cochrane

Boro once again fielded an unchanged team

The game finished goalless, with Gillingham the 1st team so far to shut Boro out, another 7 was to happen throughout the season

1991- Boro beat Leicester City 3-0 in a division two fixture, in front of 16,673 at Ayresome Park with goals from Slaven his 4th of the season & a brace for Wilkinson for his 5th of the season

Boro had started the season in good form, played 8, won 6, lost 2

1985 - Boro drew 1-1 at home to Norwich in a division two fixture with Gary Rowell scoring our equaliser at the East end seats from the penalty spot for his 2nd goal of the season, one win out of the 1st 7 games, season of struggle for the late, great Willie Maddren

This game also seen Mitch Cook recent signing from Darlington named as sub, Mitch Cook came on for his debut replacing Gary Gill

MC went on to play 6 times for the Boro, which included 3 starts & 3 coming on as sub

This day back in 86 we played Chesterfield at Ayresome Park for this 3rd division fixture

This been our 6th league fixture of the season on the 20th September, just over one month after the season kicked off & so far no defeat which is quite remarkable considering the lack of preseason training the team went through in the sumner

Bruce was sticking with the players who are doing the business on the pitch, not that he has that many to chose from but the spirit within the club is enormous, every single player is fighting for his teammate, quite remarkable

Boro ran out 2-0 winners with goals from Mowbray, his 2nd of the season & Laws 1st of the season, in front of our biggest crowd of the season & our biggest since the turn of the year, the club is growing & finally going in the right direction
