Erimus where are you? we need some nostalgia to cheer us old supporters up.

Sorry not been on here for a week or so, meant to post about Juninhos debut on the 4th.

What a remarkable day, it seemed like the worlds media were at the Riverside, that day, carnival atmosphere in & around the ground, the place was buzzing, will TLF live up top the expectations, can the Brazilian player of the year cope with the north east wind, the blizzards, the snow & whatever the north of england will throw up at our latest signing

Well if the Leeds game was anything to go by, his class pass to Fjortofts goal & his booking on a tackle on Brian Deane then we have a little gem on our hands & Osvaldo Giroldo Júnior, known as Juninho Paulista or Juninho, didnt let us down one bit & made us want more

Boro flashback 7th November 1987

Talking to Bernie Slaven today in the shopping centre & on this very day 1987 he was scoring one of the goals with Stuart Ripley scoring the other in a 2-0 win away to Sheffield United

Boro kept the same team they have had for the previous 10 games & unbeaten since 3rd October, the team had settled in to a well organised, attacking team who had nothing to fear in this division

We still went another 7 games without tasting defeat

What an era following the Boro back then

Brighton 0 BORO 1

A goal from Craig Johnston, his 6th goal of the season, how good was this lad, was enough to give us our 2nd away win of the season, Craig Johnston went on to score 10 league goals that season, out of 27 league games, some going, with losing the previous league game at home to Birmingham 2-1 we needed a pick up from the Boro & we got one                                                                                                                                                               We had suffered some heavy defeats on our travels that season but won this game without conceding a goal, which so far we had only happened the once away, that time we won at Sunderland 1-0

Boro flashback this day 8th November 1986

Darlington 0 BORO 1

Boro went in to this fixture unbeaten since the 21st of October & 2 league defeats this season after 15 games, losing 1-0 at Notts County & 3-1 Att home to Blackpool

Our previous meeting with Darlington were when we met in the FAC January 1985 with Darlington winning after a replay at Feethans

Times have changed since those llow times at the Boro & to go back to the last league meeting then its 20 years almost to December 66, also in the 3rd division, when over the festive period Boro won 3-0 away & 4-0 at home

Now 20 years on a single goal from Archie Stephens was enough to take all points in this North East Derby & take all 3 points back down the A66 & continue our great form at the top of the league, this match attracted Darlington biggest crowd that season, 9,947 with the majority from the Boro

Darlington striker & ex Boro favourite Dave Currie was sent off

2nd season for John Neal, who was building a nice blend of youth & experience, his achelies heel was the away form, we scored & won games at home but constantly struggled away, a cracking time supporting the Boro though
