Boro flashback this day 1973

Seen Stuey Boam score his 1st goal of the season & the only goal of the game in our home win v Forest, extending our lead at the top of the 2nd division

Our water tight defence had seen us concede just 5 goals in 11 home games to date & 4 of those came in 2 games

After this victory over Forest it took us till a last minute winner from Brian Deane at the City Ground in 1999 for our next victory over Forest

A crowd of 16,764 for this clash on the 15th of December was 7,000 down on our previous home game & 3rd lowest attendance of the season

This day the 16th December back in  1989 we were not enjoying life back in the 2nd division after relegation the previous season from the 1st division

5 wins up to this point had us closer to the bottom of the league than challenging the of the table as the  bookies had us in the betting odds

This home fixture v Leicester City seen Bruce Rioch throw Boro legend keeper Stephen Pears straight in to starting 11 for his 1st game since April after a long injury lay off & no reserve run outs straight in to the action replacing Kevin Poole the game is basically billed as Pears v Kevin Campbell who was on loan from Arsenal

Boro won this 2nd division fixture 4-1 with 2 goals from Colin Cooper & a goal each from Bernie Slaven & Stuart Ripley with Pears rightly named MOTM

I think I have that book you have posted there.  Is it one of the old Glasper's?  The bigger size one?

Changing Times, yes that's correct

If I remember it was a little damp at that Chelsea Game and the surface was like a gluepot......papers were on about their centre backs, Droy and Wickes being future of England and the perfect partnership.....forget to include the bit about having the turning circle of a 747........everyone remembers Burns getting the goals, but my recollection is that Cummins and Cochrane absolutely tortured them after the first twenty minutes.....if only Stan had been as tall as Juninho, I think he would have lived up to his potential.......but he was another Amer fire sale victim........watched highlights recently on YouTube......."those were the days, my friend".......confidently expect repeat performance on Friday...(yes, nurse, I will take my tablets)

for a minute I read that as losing 37 away games...then penny dropped.....went to same school as George's grandson....nice lad....very proud of the connection and even brought some stuff in to show people it wasn't just talk.......scored in every game he played for England and also responsible for discovering a Mr. Clough......not a bad contribution to club history......
