You literally said in your OP you were sat with them and all they did was hurl abuse at players...

Did I ever say that Red Faction was included within those people? If you read the thread, I haven’t said a bad word about them - infact i’ve stuck up for them and praised them.

Before I begin, this is my first post on the forum - really enjoyed following the rumours over the summer transfer window and i'm happy to be here. I've been going to games following the home and away

A few months back, I somehow by accident copy pasted a porn-link into a post at a random place .. It was really hillarious, but at least it lifted the mood, when the Pulis era was at it's worst ?

Hi guys, long time lurker first time poster. Kudos to all involved in this forum, easily the best Boro forum around. We've just put up an article addressing a couple of the issues in this thread.

Before I begin, this is my first post on the forum - really enjoyed following the rumours over the summer transfer window and i'm happy to be here. I've been going to games following the home and away for the last 5 years (i'm 20 years old for context) - and have found our fans to be some of the most loyal and passionate across the country. Our away support is second to none and the atmosphere's that we can create are up there with the best, such as Luton this season; one of the best away atmospheres i've been part of.

I thought the home atmospheres would've at least been slightly more positive under Woodgate, but after the game just gone I believe now it's at an all time low. The game last night against Wigan was the worst example so far to the point I almost felt embarrassed to be apart of the crowd. From the first minute a ball was kicked, the crowd was on the players' back. We were desperate for a win tonight, and the fact the fans were booing after 5 minutes at literally every player, screaming at Britt for being lazy or other absolute garbage abuse, was genuinely appalling. I understand fans have a right to have their say since they've paid to be there, but how on earth is giving the team so much abuse in a game that was not too far from being 'must win' helping anyone? Its FOUR LEAGUE GAMES into the season, with a team that is clearly a work in progress (it could take over a year for Woody's philosophy to be in full flow), managed by a local lad who will give his absolute all to his role. The 'boo boys' will always be in the stands and as I say they have their right to express their feelings but the abuse directed at the team within 5 minutes in the circumstances our team finds itself in is unacceptable. I sit in the south stand, the stand which is supposedly the location of those who want to back the team and sing, and those first 20 minutes was the polar opposite of that. The team looked so nervous from kick off which was obviously heavily influenced by the negativity in the stands, then as soon as Britt scored, those booing and giving it all that shut right up.

Nothing like this has ever really bothered me (the abuse from the stands under Pulis was deserved..), but those who had this toxic mentality from the kick off should take a hard look at themselves in my opinion. I would like to hope something could be done to uplift the current knife-edge atmosphere at the riverside but I'm not sure thats a possibility.

Would love to hear other people's recent experiences regarding the home support, as well as any opinions. Utb.

Been saying it for years, The fans at the Riverside are Toxic, It doesn't help anyone to start booing, Those "Fans" I wish would go support Sunderland up the road, Then you can Boo all you want

I think it will get better once certain fans realise that their own personal expectations of the team will not be achieved and have dissipated and that what they see on the pitch is what it is! Eventually and hopefully with better performances there will be an acceptance of our situation and that we can get behind the team and support them.

Not for booing myself but you can't applause and cheer bad or mediocre play either whoever the player is.

I'll boo a ref. I probably booed players as a kid, and performances in general. I don't any more. I might be sat saying 'FFS Gestede learn how to head a *** ball' to my mate but unless he somehow hears that and turns round and flips me the bird with both hands, I don't think I'd boo him.

Not Red Faction per say but definitely people sitting in the blocks surrounding them. RF could do more imo in terms of atmosphere building but I can imagine it is difficult especially when the atmosphere is in a toxic place as it was last night.

I've been in the south stand a few times, there's a group of older blokes near the front who moan from start to finish, they were doing it the promotion season - even whined about Red Faction not singing good songs - you've heard nothing like it

Not like I want to get involved in another Boo debate.... But it was just embarrassing the amount of booing when Gestede came off in the Crewe game. I don't boo myself but equally don't  hate it when it's been aimed at the full team if it's been a very poor display.

As for the OP, I sit in the SW stand and can understand the opinion a little. When we started there was a nervous tension that grew as the players more and more gave the ball away through sloppy passes probably the biggest grown coming from when Shotton booted it out wide instead of playing a simple pass. You could argue that the growns created the nervousness and thus the mistakes but I feel it was just simply a poor start from us.

The atmosphere from the South stand soon got much better once they actually had something a bit more to cheer for i.e. stringing some decent passes together just before the goal and obv the goal itself.

To note I actually thought the RF were brilliant in the final minutes of the game especially in stoppage time to help spur on the team to hang onto the win. Probably only negative in the 2nd half was the amount of grief for Randolph kicking it out while Wigan had a player down to the extent that he even held his hand to appologise to the stand.

Like others I'm of the belief that hopefully as expectations lower a little, as we start to look more like a team that knows what we are doing etc. etc. the atmosphere will very much return, it doesn't take much positivity from the pitch for the RF to start raising their voices but understandably they still need something to be happening.

I didn't ask for a booing debate. I was questioning the kind of abuse that was thrown at our own players and manager from some areas in the south stand against Wigan - which people have elaborated on and it seems there were similar wrong doings against Crewe. People can boo all they like, doesn't bother me, but when multiple people are screaming F OFF WOODY 5 minutes into a must win game, i'll happily debate and question why on earth that is a good idea. And so I did.

Yeah its unbelievable mate. Moved from the north to the south stand 2 seasons ago and couldn't believe it, but against Wigan (and Crewe it seems from other peoples perspectives but I was not there) a line was crossed. Its crazy and was I was buzzing when Britt scored to shut them up.

Yeah the Gestede booing was mad against Crewe, were people booing him onto the pitch against Wigan too?

Definitely, wasn't Rudy I was most bothered about though - more so Britt, Woody, a few others; people who need the support/backing so desperately rather than being verbally abused until we are winning.
