Harsh to call it poor

This sums up how low of a bar the club is setting. I mean at the end the day we have brought in 2 loans of which one is now injured and a foreign goalkeeper that of which no one heard of until he signed for us. Hardly unearthing gems

Playing Devil's Advocate here but isn't the definition of "unearthing gems" finding good players nobody has heard of? Otherwise you wouldn't be unearthing them....

So we may have done just that if Stojanovic comes good! Couldnt say I've heard of Nmecha before he signed for us either but he's looked lively what little he has played for us and could turn out to be alright.

Roberts is slightly different in that he's been a known quantity for a while, but he still looked like he was going to be a good signing for us before the injury. He again looked like he could be a good player for us when he was buzzing round, and almost everyone was commending the club on here for making the right kind of signing. It was just unfortunate his hammy went. You can hardly hold that as a black mark against the club's transfers this window.

Right I'll go first.

ZERO IN

ZERO OUT

Couple of fringe players go on loan, Ste Walker for example

One in. Think we will get that defender. Might not be our first choice, but we will get someone to see us through the last months. Can't pin so much pressure on Wood. The occasional outing is decent but you don't want to be in a situation where he has to start without a real defensive partner. Fry debuted at a very early age too and looked promising but it took a few years for him to become a main fixture in the side.

Zero out (first team players that is. Might send a few young ones out)

Where is Danny Batth when you need him...

I'll answer that myself... at Stoke!

I liked him here to be honest...

2 in, 1 out.

We will get 1 defender in,  as BD says may not be our first choice.

Also got a funny feeling someone is gonna get desperate and bid for someone like Britt on last day, which will see a mad dash ending in us getting in a forward from the Scottish/Lower Leagues

The Mirror are reporting that Benkovic is going to Derby if Leicester signs a replacement.

I'm going to go for 0 in, 0 out. Hopefully wrong and we bring some in.

Anyone heard this too.. Haven't seen it mentioned here...

Apparently make or break last move for Gibson in the next 24 hours, we are trying to get an attacking player in along with a CB. This time tomorrow if Benkovic is gone along with Gibson I wouldn't be surprised to hear Ryan Bennett's music as he starts to look better the more desperate we get for a CB.

I wouldn't call this window good just because we're leaving ourselves alot of work to do in the summer, trusting the Boro recruitment team to fill 2-3 gaps under Pulis was hard enough trusting them to fill 7-8 gaps is a big leap I can't make myself the club have set up next summer as a magical time where the wage expenses will be halved new FFP period etc the pressure they're going to be under to bring in new attackers and defenders there's not much point being ultra critical of them when this season's a dud anyway I have a feeling there'll be plenty to criticise them for come August.

    • Businesses should be means tested much like people are for social welfare. There is no way bajillionaires like Branson should get away with furloughing staff, neither should businesses with 100's of millions of pounds income per year.
    • Liverpool have reversed the decision now. Rightly so, in my opinion.
    • I don’t think it’s down to the working class nature of football, boxers don’t get the same flack, I think it’s because clubs are very often the heart of a community. I remember chatting to a woman I met a few years ago who wouldn’t let her kids watch football because footballers were payed an obscene amount of money. I asked her if she allowed her kids to watch Hollywood movies, of course, she said!
    • Wherever you stand on it... Footballers do always seem to be fair game when it comes to having a pop at the rich. Is it the working class nature of football? I've always wondered.  Where are the calls for musicians, actors, or even athletes from other well-paid sports to give up their earnings for the less fortunate? Or the bankers and CEOs who squirrel millions away into offshore accounts, taking from society and never giving back? At least footballers bring a bit of joy and entertainment to millions of people a couple of times a week.
    • Yep, its a real sob story.  But in normal life, imagine if you could live comfortably on 10% of your takehome after buying your house and car. You would only have day to day expenses, holidays, etc. You take the rest of your salary and put it in one of those long term savings accounts (or whatever) that you cannot touch for 2 years. Then your salary is reduced and that 10% is no longer enough to cover your day to day. Regardless of how much actual money that is, when you try to force people to change their living circumstances you will always have push-back.  Now of course nobody earning decent money should be in that situation. It is recommended to split your savings, some in short term (easily retrieved), some in medium term (normally a wait period to retrieve) and some in long term (not normally retrievable) eg Property and pension.  On one hand it does highlight that these are just people, like all of us. On the other hand, they are fabulously wealthy and a target for those less well off who are revered when times are good and reviled when times are bad.  I don't blame the players for earning what they do, you make hay while the sun shines and we would all probably try to earn the same if circumstances were different. The clubs though are a different story and should be looking after the non mega-rich employees.
