Boro V Hull City 2-2 (Tavernier, Fletcher)

Recommended Posts

FFS!

Utterly PATHETIC!

I bloody SAID this would happen!

Boro camping in the penalty area, letting Hull dictate the game...and they score again!

BORO 2 - 2 HULL

Hull are gonna win this now. Boro have just completely bottled it. 😡 Being a man down is NOT an excuse for playing like this.

10 men or 11 our defending is absolutely appauling. We look vulnerable everytime a team comes towards us. Genuinely gutting considering how we were first half

What a waste to probably our best 40 minute spell all season. Marvin Johnson has dropped us 2 points minimum.

Absolutely agree. We couldn't score past 10 men Fulham, Hull have just scored 2 in nearly as many minutes. Nothing can excuse this level of performance im sorry.

Can't blame Johnson for this, yes he was stupidly sent off but then it's down to the manager to organise the team to play with a man short,  if Woodgate can't organise a team 2-0 up and down to 10 men, then he's to blame

You can't camp on your own 6 yard box for 45 minutes. I know we're going to be under pressure with 10 men but we're far too deep

While it was a bloody stupid sending off, its a bit harsh to put ALL the blame on Marvin.

There are 9 other guys out there who have failed to do their jobs properly.

I mean, how many times have you seen teams reduced to 10 men, become HARDER to play against?

Just don't get bringing Clayton on only to stick Mcnair and Tav left side defending when you have Coulson on the bench.

Lay the blame where people like, were 2-0 up and looking half decent.

Johnson was stupid, Woodgate hasn't set the team up second half and has reverted to his Pulis training manual, some of the players don't look like they know how to defend and where are the leaders in the team?

Positively, when we had 11 men we looked better than our league position, so something to work with going into the Barnsley game. If we don't win that, then we're in even bigger trouble.

Woodgate has been out done on tactics here he did catch Hull out at the start but then their manager at half time changed it around then he's turned it around. Woodgate just put Clayton on and hoped to hang on we offer nothing attacking wise this half as just have Assombalonga up top he can't hold on to it as doesn't have Fletcher to support him!

    • Platt was my boyhood keeper, couldn't kick a ball straight, unless he kicked it straight into touch, but he was excellent for years, I would rate him on par with Schwarzer and I think the Aussie would have helped to keep us up if he hadn't gotten injured.
    • Given made 16 Boro appearances, Valdes 28 appearances and Randolph 106 appearances in a Boro shirt. Given was a 93 day maximum permitted loan but he kept 10 clean sheets in those 16 games. I'm pretty sure that Valdes will have been signed with the intention of him being around for longer than 28 games. Randolph's 106 games are maybe not what could be classed as a long serving tenure but a little more than a cameo in fairness to him. in contrast however Jim Platt made 481 appearances so I suppose by comparison they were all somewhat transient.
    • The big Auzzie was very good and for a long time.  I notice you have not mentioned Jim Platt who I rated highly also along with Pears.  For some reason I tend to regard Given and Randolph as cameo appearances which is not really fair   but who said life was fair - keep smiling
    • Some interesting replies on crowds returning.  I have a record of 65 + years of attending Boro matches and I'm anxious to keep it up but have one or three health problems so I can take no risks with Covid. transmissions.   I'd love to go but it won't be until I've been vacced etc.  If I can I'd love to go, even if its just the one game to keep up the record of at least one game in every season since 1953/4   keep smiling
    • Marvin Johnson is playing really well, including a couple of goals of late
