"So what did you do on Boxing Day, Adam?" "Oh, not much. Just watched some goat porn and drank creme de menthe." "Anything else, Adam? Were you spamming those Middlesbrough forums again?"

When looking at how we have performed and how we have improved we need to look at the 4 phases of play.   1) Without the ball. We have really improved in this, other than the Leeds match. We

Again a very clever use of words to one of the worlds most famous songs! Brilliant BU!

Chuckled at the reference to the under tens!

To the game, we have had a fair number of false dawns this season following one of our rare wins whereby we simply can not follow a win with another win.

Huddersfield have had some fairish results of late but as you say only one point ahead of us and due to the predicament we are in then we really do need to get our first back to back win just to allow a bit of breathing space when we next lose.

So all things considered this game really is one of the most important games of the season......so far! A must win match

Seeing the reactions to going 1-0 down away at Forest and home to Stoke, suggests to me that we can play decent, progressive football.

We just opt to set the team up negatively and try suffocate the opposition (ala Aitor and Pulis).

The personnel at our disposal aren’t as well drilled as under previous coaches, therefore our suffocating approach doesn’t work. Displays against Forest and Stoke should give the coaching team the confidence to start games offensively.

I hope to see Wing playing behind the striker(s). I hope to see Howson in midfield instead of Clayton. I hope to see us getting the ball on the floor and try to keep it instead of just handing possession back to the opposition.

The effort Boro_Unger made towards his very clever presentation deserves more than two replies.

Same team for me  as much as possible with Wing in from the start.

Others know to have a go at us early doors so let's change this philosophy and have a good go at Huddersfield right from the off.

Think this will be a cracker of a game to be honest if we come out of our shell

I think we'll get beat.

I don't have any faith in Woody to start this team on the front foot, I think he'll set us up not to lose first and foremost. I see us conceding first and then him changing the personnel to make us more offensive.

It worked against Stoke but let's be fair, they were pretty poor second half.

A dull Boxing Day when you are forced to turn out to do a job but you would sooner be home sleeping off a belly full of food and booze. A day to go through the motions in front of a festive crowd donned in costumes in hope the opposition is as disinterested as you and will settle for a draw. Of course there are always the daft score lines when one side has not read the script.
I don’t see BORO improving a 100% to take the game so I’ll go for a draw.

Saw something coming out of Norwich on Facebook last night about how fans and players feel about Boxing Day and they say about how little players get to do over Christmas, it's a bit sad really. Some players obviously won't mind too much (apart from the hectic schedule) given they may not celebrate Christmas to begin with but those that do might not see their families much, particularly if they're playing away. I'd dread a Christmas break as a fan and, y'know, how the other half live and all that, a lot of them get a great deal out of that sacrifice! But still, it would be nice if players could spend more time with their family over Christmas.

As for the game, I'm going 2-1 Boro.

I would like to see the same team starting that finished the game against Stoke. But Britt for Gestede if available.

This really is another 6 pointer. Boro have played one game more than most so we have to beat the teams around us.

However. It's Boxing day. so I am going to predict a typical 'hangover' type game with a dull 0-0 draw.

It's all going to depend on who is up for the fight. Time for a fine motivational speech from Woody. 🤔

Everyone has played the same amount of games bar Reading and Forest?

Top post @boro-unger. Really enjoy your match day threads.

I will go for a 1-1 which wont be worst result but wont be great either. Really is one of them you dare not lost. Hopefully teams around us fail to win so we maintain a gap to bottom 3.

Team for me

Pears

Howson Ayala Fry

Spence Sav Wing Tav Coulson

Fletch

Britt/Rudy

We seem to have a bit cohesion of late and not before time

Fighting spirit and scoring goals does seem to indicate Woody is zeroing in in his best 11, not much to choose i know, but picking the best of a bad bunch deserves credit vs Stoke

1-0 with another Ayala masterclass

Up The Boro and happy Christmas
