"So what did you do on Boxing Day, Adam?" "Oh, not much. Just watched some goat porn and drank creme de menthe." "Anything else, Adam? Were you spamming those Middlesbrough forums again?"

When looking at how we have performed and how we have improved we need to look at the 4 phases of play.   1) Without the ball. We have really improved in this, other than the Leeds match. We

No worries @Smoggydownsouth. appreciate you sharing stuff you get told. btw is the person who told you about keane same person who told you about jack clarke as i want the jack clarke rumour to be true.?

Was told about Clarke after stoke... told he could play against us in FA Cup and then join. Admittedly source was the same.

Us and Derby have identical records this season, down to goals scored & conceded.

W6 D9 L9 GF22 GA32 -10GD 27 points.

We were expecting a difficult season and have still had somewhat of a melt down over results/performances. I can't imagine what the Derby forum must be like right now.

thank you @Smoggydownsouth. Hope it is true. i note Ben Gibson has not made bench for burnley on last two occasions. could be injured mind.

Todays result was massive given the team below us picked up points. We now have a 6 point gap between us and 3rd bottom but given the two tough away games that could very much change. Would be over the moon with two draws from the next 2 games.

Agree Brunners. At least we are slowly climbing the table whereas Derby are going in the opposite direction. They have already pulled the sale of stadium stunt so can’t try that one again. I’m sure Rooney’s wages are going to bleed the rest of the pot dry in January. They could suffer severely long term if things don’t improve rapidly for them.

That's the main negative today - other results really didn't go our way.  I don't expect to get anything from West Brom and a point against Preston would be an extremely good result (am only thinking it possible because we seem to have a strange habit of doing better than we should there). We could have done with more of a cushion between the teams below us.

4 home wins on the bounce makes our home results look a lot better for this season, 9th in the table for home results only... though that's skewed by us playing the current max amount of home games vs. some teams who have played up to 3 games less. It's our away form that is now keeping us close to the bottom, though. In the away table we're sat in 22nd but have played the current joint least number of away games.

Today was good in parts. We did start much quicker than they did but when they finally got hold of the ball, we struggled to get it back off them for the rest of the first half. Fortunately, they were pretty wasteful throughout, on another day they could have scored a couple regardless of how Pears kept us in front in the last 25 minutes. The header over and the miss from Mounie were the other end to us but they looked incredibly close. The Mounie one I can only assume he was stretching because it looked like it flicked off Ayala's heel or something on the way through?

Not happy about the offside based on what I saw but I'll go watch the highlights in a sec to see if its more conclusive.

The Mounie one actually double deflected off both Ayala and...Howson, I think. Wasn't an easy finish at all on the half volley.

And the offside goal isn't shown in any sky highlights 😞
