Still in for Maddison and Nketiah... though if he goes to Bristol City , britt will stay... see 3 loans and poss one perm

Based on names you disclosed am I right on assuming the 4 incomings will be 2 wide players, a striker and a CB?

Maddison - Perm

Clarke - Loan

Nketiah (or another) - loan

Gibson - Loan.

Btw if that is our business i for one will be very happy.

When looking at how we have performed and how we have improved we need to look at the 4 phases of play.   1) Without the ball. We have really improved in this, other than the Leeds match. We

Losing Randolph, Britt and Ayala or Fry.

Still happy?

Wouldn’t be ‘happy’ to lose Randolph or fry but worth it to get some money in to rebuild. I think Fry or Ayala are the ones we’d noticeably miss.

Really happy with the players @Smoggydownsouth is naming as potential signings. A corner has definitely been turned over the past couple months on the pitch, credit where it's due to Woody for bringing through the younger lads and finding a shape that seems to be working.

Seems like losing Randolph is a necessary evil but Pears has done a job so far and we have Mejias as cover so i'm not too concerned. If we lose Britt we need to replace him (Nketiah would be an improvement imo). Fry would be a loss but he hasn't been anywhere near his best this season. Again, perhaps selling is another necessary evil so we can get the money in to reinvest.

The Ayala situation is alarming and I'll be seriously disappointed if we don't sort out his contract. If we show some intent in January then we really have a chance to climb the table. Desperately need to win away but it'll come.

All in all, things are looking up (not that long ago I didn't think we'd ever win again). Proper happy for Woody and think he's done all the right things over Christmas. If we bring in the players we're looking and sort out a few contracts we could be in a good place by the end of the season - really hope the club doesn't let us down and finally shows some ambition. Utb.

Really enjoyed yesterday, bit scrappy but Woody is slowly dragging us away from the danger zone, now level with Derby who were well ahead of us not long ago & above the Cowley brothers, who many wanted at the Boro

Onwards & upwards Boro

I wouldn't mind to sell Fry for good money .. He has potential, but this season he has lacked a lot of determination... Looks like he is just trying to do a job somehow.. not really wanting it .. If he had the spark of Ayala, that would help .. It feels like he is too kind/soft/help me find the right word... 😉

Ayala is the one I would go far to keep! He is very important as a captain atm.

Randolph is great, but if he can bring in money to get what is more needed, then so be it .. Rather have Pears in goal and 3 new players attacking, than Randz in goal and ste Walker as a starter. The lad has attributes but is very raw and young.

Yeah Fry has seemed off this season for sure. I know CT will come in and defend him as he always does, but it doesn't change the fact he has cost us multiple goals this year due to bad positioning.

It's weird, because he was incredible last year, I wonder what has happened to him!

Ayala hasn’t fallen off whatsoever this season - has been as solid as ever on the whole. Howson has been far more solid than Fry at CB and he’s a CM! Cannot put the blame on Woody for Fry’s below par performances when those around him are stepping up.

So are you saying that an individual player can't be affected by a manager and his approach?

Not saying that he can’t be affected, and he might go somewhere else and play class under a different coach, but Fry’s performances are full of individual errors and giving the ball away far too often. Doesn’t sound like something that Woodgate is at fault for. Fry just isn’t putting in the performances he should be, when those around him are stepping up.
