Boro V Barnsley (A) 0-1

Recommended Posts

Probably been mentioned but apparently that was Barnsleys 1st clean sheet in 16 home games since the opening game of the season, so coupled with our inability to score against Luton  the team with the most goals against in the league, well done to our players, give yourself a round of applause.

Who would have thought Gibson hiring his mates to do a job they were massively under qualified for would turn out like this

Now then lads, long time no speak!   I was sceptical that Woodgate got the job in the summer because Gibson was too short sighted to realise that getting the cheap option who’s not going to

Stinks of a post-Karanka Boro Championship special to me. Start slow, get outfought, concede an early goal thanks to a switched off defender. Two down just before half-time, or stays at one throu

Britt absolutely awful again, our performance with Britt in the side awful again. He wasn't the only poor performer but he has been awful all season, please drop him and sell him on. He's the Deontay Wilder of strikers, crumbles under any form of pressure.

Rare I like Vickers' articles, but he has it absolutely bang on there. Looking at our remaining fixtures, I am very worried we could drop down to League One now.

Gibson should be taking the  risk and getting someone in who at least has a clue how to get the squad playing and gain enough points to keep us in the league, but he won't.

To me it just feels like the club aren't concerned about relegation. Time is running out fast, if a change needs to be made, it has to be now.

Could be very ugly in the stands vs Leeds this week. Expect they'll crush us. Won't change Gibson's mind though, won't budge on Woodgate.

Hate what we've become as a club and where we are. There's got to be a way around it. The appointment of Woodgate from the start was an atrocious decision but seems Gibson had that planned all along, once Pulis had left the place.

This team isn't responding to Woodgate any more. Throughout the fixtures in Xmas the players/youngsters were saying spirit was good despite our awful start to the season and struggle until Christmas, but I feel that has changed now.

Very concerned we're heading down as it stands.

IMVHO Woodgate is the short term problem and Gibson is the long term problem. Can anyone see anything really changing under Gibson? Given recent history?

He did save the club and sometimes it's better the Devil you know but these days Gibson seems clueless or disinterested or both and if he is can he please accept it and if anyone even half competent is interested can he do what's in the long term best interest of the club and either appoint a good team and step back or sell up.

Could be some truth in this. Gibson has made a succession of risky and unsuccessful decisions and hasn't really learned from them. He put Southgate in charge, with no management experience or even coaching. There are no prem league managers in the last decade that didn't at have at least a years experience of coaching plus fully badged up (which requires at least a couple of years coaching.

He replaced him with Southgate, which was an utter disaster.

Then we had the Mogga years, underfunded failure

Then Karanka and the only good decision he has made, a rookie manager, but with 5 or 6 years coaching behind him.

Then it was Monk another terrible decision

Then Pulis, anti-football, similar type of appointment to Strachan, experienced, but didn't really work and lost the fans

Now Woodgate, which is another reincarnation of Southgate but without learning the lessons of last time, he needed an older head as guidance

Were do we go from here? Well we need a chairman that will learn from mistakes, not flip-flop between management styles, and will support his managers properly. We've lost most of the last decade through mismanagement from the very top
