Who would have thought Gibson hiring his mates to do a job they were massively under qualified for would turn out like this

Now then lads, long time no speak!   I was sceptical that Woodgate got the job in the summer because Gibson was too short sighted to realise that getting the cheap option who’s not going to

Stinks of a post-Karanka Boro Championship special to me. Start slow, get outfought, concede an early goal thanks to a switched off defender. Two down just before half-time, or stays at one throu

I would go with following

Pears

Shotton Harold Friend

Howson Paddy Wing Tav Coulson

Britt Fletch

Not against Spence but we need to get back to being strong and that back 3 has good experience and 2 out the 3 are naturally centre backs. So hopefully that offers the solidity we need

Harsh on Sav but i think we need Tav in team as he carries the ball well from CM towards the strikers. And the link between midfield n forwards of late has been non existent.

I deliberated whether to play Ravel or Britt with Fletch. Gone with Britt in hope of extra firepower. I am hoping Tavs inclusion means creativity of Ravel is less needed. Nmecha n Rudy not done much of late. I accept neither has Britt but hoping thats down to him feeling his way back after injury. For all his faults his record in this league is good and i hope he can find the form he showed towards in last 6 games of last season where he went on a run.

Howson was bloody dreadful against Luton, one of the worst performers. I know he's out of position but he's had much better performances than that at centre-back against forwards who were actually capable of troubling him. I know Woodgate won't drop him but Spence has to play right wing-back for me. I'd probably put Howson into midfield if he's got to be anywhere as I thought Paddy, playing in midfield, was the worst of the worst.

My team would perhaps be:

Pears

Spence Shotton Moukoudi Friend Coulson

Saville

Wing Morrison Tav

Fletcher

More than anything I hope we win. Not sure of what team he is going to put out or what formation he is going to play and I suppose it doesn't really matter if we get 3 points. It has been a complete waste of a season for me. I can normally see the positives in most things, even Pulis, but we just seem to be drifting into ever increasing mediocrity.

Woodgate probably doesn't know what formation he's picking, perhaps he'll go 4-2-4 again and hope Barnsley's midfield play ***.

Howson has been playing out of position, but has been as effective as if he had been playing in midfield. I hope we offer Howsons wage to Ayala as he is probably the only one we should retain out of the out of contract players.

Have to agree with the team Wilson has suggested and whist Howson has been MOM for quite a few games his form has dipped together with Paddy who seems to be on a different pitch to all the other.

TLF mentioned Britt being preferred, again have to say since his return, not once can I honestly say that I felt happy about it and that he had been a real miss (supple observation here) nor added anything at all to the team by his performances.

This is a must not lose game because at best will be ok with a point

Other games of interest today include:

PNE V Hull (Want a home win here)

Charlton V Luton (at best both will drop points with a draw but points will be dropped)

Swansea V Huddersfield (Home win again for me)

Birmingham V Sheffield Wednesday (interest due to possible points deduction)

Wigan V Millwall (Don't often want an away win)

Stoke V Cardiff (Come on you blues)

Looking at some of those fixtures it is clear we can give ourselves a real boost if we win and allowing a further distance of points between us and some of those below us

    • words rarely seen in same sentence.¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† Joey Barton is innocent..¬† or not guilty. Obviously Barnsley manager dived despite testimony of eyewitness¬†
    • It‚Äôs clear Wilder plans on a long term stay at Boro. He has a ‚Äúfree hit‚ÄĚ this season, as expectations are not sky high. We have limited money available and moving players on may not be easy as supposedly we pay more that a lot of clubs (maybe to get players to the north-east?). All of the above suggests to me, he will only sign players in January who are exactly what he wants and that if he can‚Äôt find them he will be prepared to wait until the summer rather than settle for something second best. That being the case we might not see as much movement as is hoped. The departures might be limited to those who definitely can‚Äôt¬†¬†fit into the style and those with longer term contracts where we might as well take the hit now as later, but in each case only where we can find the right replacement and we get the right saving (either in transfer fee or in cutting wage bill). Incomings might be one or two permanents, plus¬†loans from Premier League where we have no long term commitment or huge cost In terms of possible departures,¬†Hall fits into the first category and if we can‚Äôt find an experienced replacement, Wilder might¬†be planning to use Wood to give him experience and see if he can step up. Uche fits into both categories and if we can get some of our money back, I think he will be on the road. With Hernandez and JLS, it depends on whether there are any recall clauses allowing us to end the loan in January. I would doubt it - and both can do as squad members until end of season, so I am a bit doubtful¬†they will be on the way. Stoj ends his contract at the end of the season and he may be able to find another club to take on his wages. If he does, then maybe one of Hemmings or Brynn¬†will be recalled as third keeper. In terms of quality I think they would be fine, although in many ways they would be better getting first team experience where they are.¬†Although I am not a fan of either Daniels¬†or Lumley, again I think our wage commitment to them may prevent either leaving - unless we can and want to loan an equivalent of Dean Henderson ( as he was when SU loaned him). If Wilder can get his ball playing centre half, then Dijksteel can cover RWB and I would leave Spence to get the experience at Forest. yes, it helps them, but it may be beneficial in long term either in his development and attitude or in raising his value. So for me, OUT - Hall, Uche, Stoj and Browne and Coburn on loan. IN - good centre half and a couple of forwards, maybe one on loan. Also either Taylor or another left back for the rest of the season. Any other incomings only where we get a bargain or cut out other clubs ( e.g. where a player will be out of contract in summer and we would end up in a bidding war)
    • Hartlepool or Sheff Utd in the cup. Or just for kicks and giggles Derby.
    • Looking at Sheff Utd most of the keepers he brought in were around 22. I wouldn‚Äôt be surprised with a loan move for a Liverpool or Man City keeper.
    • there‚Äôs two considerations for me in this. Firstly, I think some of this depends on where we are going to play Djik. If he is now a CB then I would want a RWB to come in and Spence is the most obvious choice. He can challenge Jones for the spot and competition will¬†be good for both of them.¬† I don‚Äôt want it¬†to be the case that if¬†Jones has a dip in form, suspension or injury that we are having to juggle several players about. the secondary issue is where is Spence‚Äôs head. Does he want to come back or is he done with Middlesbrough. I don‚Äôt want anyone that may be disruptive in the dressing room. I am not saying he is or isn‚Äôt I have no knowledge either way but I would want to know where his head is at.
