I’d take Shotton off at half time. He’ll get sent off if not

I'm listening on the app on my phone instead, which is something they've also advised in the past for the video and audio streams. It's working fine. They're entirely unresponsive when the streams don't work, which is pathetic when you turn up and throw money at them 5 minutes before kick off and think a 2 hour response time is fine.

Which app is it? I've got the Middlesbrough official app, but I can't see any streaming on there

Great play again. Tav has to do better there. Drags his shot wide

Anyone else seeing how often Moukoudi is running forward out of position? Constantly ball chases and it always ends up in behind him with Shotton/Howson having to cover. Doing me suede in.

This has been liquid football

Sounds like vintage wine too...or at least a decent Prosecco anyway...

Stats-wise it looks like we've bossed this half. More possession, more shots and more corners (same number of shots on target though).

Tav is definitely not a winger but cannot fault his effort.

Effort, yes.  Quality is shocking though.

Oh yeah because Shotton has been so much better.

Shotton is a red card waiting to happen in this game, Lyle Taylor has mugged him off time after time. He's been the only downside to an otherwise thoroughly impressive first half IMO.

Marcus Browne has just scored again for Oxford.

Could be an asset next season for us in league 1.

    • Are we ready for a relegation battle? No. Are we more ready for a relegation battle than the teams around us (which is perhaps the more important question)? Time will tell. I have my concerns, though. Charlton in particular came out of pre-season much more strongly than we did, and we are kind of restarting the season again after another preseason.  I'm not confident that Woodgate has the managerial experience to get us to be where we need to be in terms of preparation and match sharpness by the end of this mid-season preseason.
    • My worry is our goalscoring, if teams get in front we'll then struggle & with the new rules of 5 subs per game teams will just kill games We are as bad as the other 5, 6 teams at the wrong end with not much breathing space between us all, whoever starts late in the mini bottom league will go down  Defensively we're fine, IMHO,
    • Didn’t realise Taylor was 30. Thought he was a young up-and-coming
    • Agree. I think a lower end PL team will take a punt on him as a 2nd or 3rd choice striker. They got little to lose. Free transfer and if they offer him even 15k it will probs triple his current wages.
    • None at all, at a guess, if he's expecting a big contract.
