Something picked up on in the announcement. A Freudian slip or an oversight on McNair's part?
"The 24-year-old extends his stay on Teesside until 2027 and, after Dael Fry and Jonny Howson, he is the club’s longest serving senior player currently in the dressing room."
McNair would be ahead of Jones having joined the year prior. And it surely isn't related to injuries as Fry is also out. Seems strange to mention it and not to check.
Not that it will come as much of a surprise to anyone that McNair is leaving. And given the contracts have started being handed out, it perhaps alludes to the club switching focus to next season already. Sure Carrick has said in the past that they wouldn't worry about them until the summer.
Club taking character into account along with ability as they believe that harmony in squad very important so if they think someone could be a disruptive force, they will avoid. You can be certain that Dieng will have been asked about Willock and Chair and the fact that they are still with QPR tells you other clubs have reservations. European signings viewed as mostly successful so we can take it for a fact that we will be in the market if the right people are available
Happy Jones has signed a new contract, still think he's our best attacking option by far, shame he's so inconsistent but if he wasn't he wouldn't be playing in the Championship.
I might be in the minority here, but i'm honestly not bothered if McGree leaves. We've barely seen anything from him this season and if the rumours of him still having a sulk on about not being allowed to move last summer are true, I don't want him at our club. Been re-watching our 96/97 season review and wantaway players like Emerson are bad for the team.
